Warning: Lengthy post ahead

I am seriously fed up of them…I just hate them….their customer support just sucks…they have no knowledge at all…after facing couple of problems earlier, I thought they will improve but NO, they will NEVER…

As mentioned in my earlier post about their new facility about Card2Card transfer in current account, I finally got their mail saying, the problem has been solved, so I used it again this month but again my funds got rejected…

Now I felt like they were testing my patience…I wrote firing mail to them asking what is happening, why this happened again….now I got their reply saying I did not fill my credit card number fully…according to them, I had filled only 4 digit for the card number.

So I decided to cross check it, so I tried to edit the card number…I did not allow me to edit it….so that option is ruled out…I tried to add card number with 4 digits, it did not allow me…so that option is also ruled out…

So what is left? Someone from their side did it purposely or some technical error….I sent them the screenshot which I had mailed them in my previous query where it showed the valid card number….

I got their reply next day, explaining how to enter the card number in card2card option…I was like WTF is this? I replied back saying what the hell you are replying….do you guys ever care to read the earlier replies? I again got reply explaining the same i.e. how to enter card number… (Query IDs for ref: SR40310578, SR40313057, SR40320602, SR40327596, SR40332452)

I finally got fed up with them and said…please close this ticket, I will use my old method i.e. will deposit the cheque in drop down box…

Now 2 days back again I faced new problem….I was not able to transfer funds to any other accounts….

I asked them about the reason….and this is what I got in reply……

As you are aware Corporate Internet Banking, facilitates you to view as well as effect online fund transfers to any account in ICICI Bank. One of the option for fund transfer, was the Third Party Fund Transfer facility, through which you can transfer funds to any account in ICICI Bank. Since in Third Party Fund Transfer, there is no prior registration, a wrong data entry by you can lead to an inadvertant fund transfer to a wrong beneficiary. In view of this, we are requesting our customers use the Own to External fund transfer facility, where the beneficiary account is registered and linked to your login by the Bank. In order to link the beneficiary accounts to your login, please give us a letter as per the attached format. The needful linking of the same shall be done on receipt of the same after which you can proceed with funds transfer to such accounts. Also please note the user DEEPPGANATRA is not registered for the Own to External Funds Transfer facility.For activation of the above facility for your account,we request you to submit a request on the company letterhead signed by authorised signatories mentioning: 1) Your existing Corporate Id. 2) User Id 3) Access Option required “Own To External Funds Transfer. 4) User limits in numeric terms. Now I have no idea what they said, they just want me to write then f***ing letter with some own to external transfer facility…and that too AGAIN…

I was using their transfer facility for last 4-5 months without any problems and suddenly it stopped working, no one cared to notify me about it…

Now why the hell they can’t just activate it for god sake? My third party transfer was already active, I never asked them to discontinue it and now they want to me send another letter to activate this new sh!t…and again it will take f****ng 7 days

Sometimes I seriously feel that national banks are much better than these banks, in national banks, you get things so easily and quickly….

This will be the best example….I have savings account with Saraswat Bank also, I needed new cheque book, so I went to the bank, asked the lady for the cheque book, she gave me one form and asked me to fill with the details…I submitted the form…waited for hardly 5 minutes and got the cheque book…

Then I went to ICICI, I have savings account there too…I asked them for the cheque book, she gave me the form, I submitted it…and she told me that, they will deliver the cheque book within 7 working days…I was like, what the hell? I am asking you for the cheque book not loan that you are taking so much time…..

I got my cheque book within 5-6 working days…

So what was the difference? Saraswat Bank one did not have my name printed on it where ICICI one had it…

That’s the only difference I could find…

Now if you think logically, who is going to read the printed name? Who cares? No one, all we care is proper signature and the amount; so having name printed on it does not make any difference…and I suppose that is the only thing which takes so much of time for cheque book to arrive…

What I suggest to the Bank is, instead of spending money on ads, spend some money in hiring smart people, spend some money in hiring a good technical team, group of people who can test out the products before the launch…so issues like card2card transfer does not arise at all….

Spend some amount on knowing what customers need, spending amount on ads like Acha Lagta hai and all is not going to make any difference…

Viewers will get attracted to the ads and open the account but after using it they will really feel kita acha lagta hai ICICI ke saath

I am also looking out for some better banks now, considering HSBC as a good option…anyone has account with them?

  1. HSBc is a gr8 bank.. their online banking facility rocks… ICICI just sucks… HSBC provides full detail for each entry in their online banking solution…

  5. Former HSBC customer here, and yeah like Andy said, it really rocked my socks!

    However, offlate, they require you to maintain 25k quarterly balance I guess and they have been more know as “Rich mans bank.”

    But, eh, they do got pretty ladies at their desks, another USP ;)

Well i have banked with them ICICI in too much detail so cant say much about them but comletely wholeheartedly agree with the fact that they certailnly dont know their job and cant do it well… there was an instance when i had visited an ICICi branch to deposit funds in my acct ..filled up the slip and handed over the money.. When i got the counterfoil i asked the man to stamp it… he said thats not necessary…I asked him how i would prove it in case the money does not get deposited and he just blurted out their 2 pence punch line” hum hain na”… boy!! I felt like busitng balls right on the spot… son of a Bit**.. the matter had to be escalted to the manager and finally I did get a stamp on the counterfoil…..LOOKs Like they really SUCK!!!!

  14. I am currently facing a problem with ICICI. For over 2 years I’ve been recieving international deposits every month. But this month it has just not come to my account and it has been confirmed that my money is with ICICI but its not credited to my account. I’ve been to the bank branch who helplessly directed me to Phone banking. After 3 frustrating calls, I decided to wait a couple of days more and then if it still doesn’t show up, i’m going to get the proof faxed to me that the money is with them for almost 2 weeks now, but not in my account.

    We all know ICICI sucks (specially with their Customer Support).
    The only good thing about ICICI is having most number of ATMs (as far as I know) and they are the largest private sector banking org in India. They were also the first Bank to start Online Banking in India…..

    BUT having said all that I do believe that this bank is the most frustrating one as well not because of its technology and facilities but because of its INCOMPETENT STAFF. They are just useless. They just can’t cope with the technology provided to them. I think that says it all!!

    I am a(still!!) icici customer from 2002. I was enjoying internet banking since last 3 years. I was required a transaction password for buying some stuff online. I requrested for a new trasaction password

    After the next day of my request they disabled my Logind Id .

    When I contacted them (tru contact them is very difficult tru their 24 hours ) they told they created new transaction password as well as login password.

    I got new password after one month only( I was not able to login tru my user id and my login password for that month)

    Even after getting my new password I was not able to logged in bcoz my user status is still DISABLED !! . When I contacted them for enabling user id they have no proper ANSWER simply saying go for 24 hours phone banking option which does not give any Option for enabling user id .

    Also not having any option to talk a Customer representative ..

    I am still sending mail to them and waiting for to get enabling my user id ..

    I am purchasing a resale flat at Sant Tukaram nagar, Pimpri, Pune which is three years old, constructed by well known builder M/s. Snehmangal Developers & Builders @ Rs. 1100/- per sq.ft. Total area of flat 630 sq. ft. By paying Rs. 25000/- as a token amount to the owner made an agreement.
    By persuing my salary slips, ICICI offered me a loan Rs.6 lakh and assured me the process will make fast. (Ref. offer letter no, 777-5102160 franchisee code I- NXT (Vikram PUN CS 0075) dated 26/10/2005. After submitting all documents, on 10/1/2006, ICICI Home Finance, Glole road branch, informed me that the maximum loan sanctioned is Rs. 3.5 lakh. I have shocked after hearing this news. When I contacted and personally visited there, I have told that our techn! ical experts considered total area 510 sq. ft. @ Rs. 850/- per sq, ft.
    Sir, the govt. rate of that survey number is Rs. 950.50 par sq. ft. and market rate is 1300/- per sq. ft. Two builders are constructing flats in the same survey numbers and declared rate Rs.1301/- per sq. ft. I conveyed your branch manager Shri. Rajesh Verma (Ph. No. 9823136455) but he said he helpless due to technical expers are the final authority.
    I am working in a Autonomus Body,s Institute of Govt. of India, I am an account holder of ICICI bank. I am regular purchased of ICICI bond from last five years. I feel this is unjustice for me.     2. I tried my best to reach the support on the toll-free number (1-866-ICICI-4U). Everytime it takes more than 5 minutes to talk to a representative. And they just say that they will not be able to service on the phone, and ask me to mail to nri@icicibank.com.

    3. I live in US and have been waiting to access my account for more than 10 days, and after 10days and many email exchanges, I am told that the passwords would be sent via postal mail to my Indian address, and not via email !!!!!!!. This just doesn’t make sense to me, as there is no one to access my account in India, and I cannot ask someone to go open my mail and send me the password!!!

    4. Dealing with ICICI bank is driving me nuts. And I am seriously thinking, why I should do business with ICICI bank.

    5. The following policies/features are JUST UNACCEPTABLE to me. I have few bank and financial accounts for many years now, and I never had to spend more than 15minutes to get any issue resolved.

    5.1. No FULL-SUPPORT via telephone, especially to activate disabled accounts.
    5.2. Email based support with 24-48 hour response time. And this is misleading, as 2 days is taken to respond, not resolve issue!!!!! My issue is not resolved even after 10 days, and each 2 days is taken to just respond with counter questions/answers.
    5.3 The responses from the Customer Service representatives is just ambigious (I was asked to “answer below 4 questions”, when I actually saw 6 questions listed below the statement!!!. I had tough time to correctly interpret each sentence).
    5.4 There is no way to reach a higher official/manager via phone/email to express my anguish, and get my issue resolved.
    5.5. The website is not user-friendly, and there are many broken links. And sometimes, the error messages are just ridiculous (I got the message : “Unknown error occured”, instead of the something like …. “The Social Security Number you entered does not match our records. Contact Customer Service”)

  26. I have used money2india from europe which is supposed to take 3 days but last time it took about 7 days..
    there is a tracking system which is totally useless.because it does not give timely information
    I then sent an email to be told they will check and revert ..
    they reverted 10 days later..but meanwhile since I was looking out myself I fund out when the money reached there.
    I have sent again another time ..and I hope to discover it for myself..
    It is any worse then I will write here..The suspense of it is what is killing..at both ends

    I have transfered huge amount to my icici bank using money2india because I have pay somebody thought once I the money is in my account I could transfer to other icici account. For some reason, they have stopped fund transfer from past 6 days. I am stuck now. The funds are in my account and I could not transfer to the other account. And I am paying higher intrest everyday till today Feb 2 from JAN 27. The problem has not solved yet.
    First time, when I called they said try after 3 hours, It was not working even on the next day so I called second day, again they said try after
    next three hours, So I waited for three hours and called them again and they said the try after 3-4 hours. Since it was already night in the US, I tried next day morning and it was n’t working SO I called them again, This time they guarenteed it to work in the next 24 hours, SO I waited another day called again, they said, it is working now for those who had added payee before JAN 21 and for those whao added later it will work on Feb 2. I called today (Feb2) It is still not working.

    Had they told me, that it would take 4-5 days, I could have managed in someother way, their misleading answer has costed me very dear.

    Looks like their database crashed and they are tring to cover that they are fixing some security issue. Because I called one of my friend and he could add see the list of payees where as I couldn’t. If they are fixing a security issue, it should be for everybody or for nobody.

    And their customer support sucks big time, They won’t know anything and those IT people won’t fix the issue nor they would process my request over the phone . They don’t have any backup plan.

    If you have logged in to their site, it is tool slow, that makes me wonder, their servers crashed and running on very bad backup servers. Even if they are doing some maintainence, they atleast test on the test server before doing anything to their production server.

    Next time when I go to INdia, I am closing my account at ICICI and open in other bank.

    From past 5 days, I am very pissed off with ICICI bank and their inability to restore the functionality. I can understand if the delay is couple of hours but so many days.

    I hope their management knows what we are going through and makes sure it does not happend again.

    I am in US and have transferred 44000 using money2india into to my savings a/c with icici. When I checked my a/c in internet, I found that some body had withdrawn all the money from non-icici ATM. I have complained to icici customer care immediatlely. I had to call a 2nd time as the call was disrupted first time after talking to a customer service executive for 45 min. It took another one hour to log complaint again. They told it would take at least one week to enquire. My parents in India went to bank and reported.
    Then checked the account and found that icici send a new ATM/Debit card to my address in India as my old card would expire after one month. I haven’t requested for the new card and moreover there was no communication that they have sent a new card to me. And it was handed over by courier people to somebody else. I was shocked to know that they would give the important stuff to somebody with out asking for any photo ID. Another shocking news is that they have already sent the PIN also 3-4 days before send the card.
    Anyway they started enqiring and found the people who had taken the card. But still they are not giving proper response regarding when they can refund my money back or even whether they give it back to me or not. It’s been 20 days after I transferred the money.
    I heard that we can complain to RBI regarding these issues.
    Can anyone let me know where can I complain to RBI, or is there any other option to complain about ICICI ? I got fed up with the response from icici staff.

  42. Huh ICICI Bank? Huhhhh. the world’s BAD bank. Not only Banking , but also Loan, Credit Cards, etc. sucks!

    When will they Improve ?

    1) One day suddently my internet banking tells “userid disabled contact customer care”. - I have contacted 6-7 times and they says, they’ve sent already. (its already 1.5 years left. not yet got)

    2) I got a standby debit/atm card, but not yet got the PIN no., its 8th month. but they already debited 109 Rs. as annual charge. I am planning to return that card.

    3) I asked them for 1 credit card, they gave me 3. (they only know why I need three)

    4) I successfully closed my icici two wheeler loan. But not yet got my spare key yet. I filed a case against local Icici guys anyway.

    5) I took a house loan. Before that the guys told me with the current salary I am qualified for around 15 Lakhhs, and bank sanctioned for Rs. 9.4 Lakhs @ 7.25 Interest. But now one of them called me and informed, sorry it was a mistake, the interest rate is 8.25

    Even after I have so many bad experience, I am using their accounts. Why ?… huh, yes you think right!. I’M A STUPIDDDD.

    Well, I am closing all my stuff step by step.

    Your experience is exactly what I went though.

    Based on my salary and other details, I was approved Rs 1 crore loan. I paid my 15% (Rs. 15 L) the total value that i needed to pay. After this transaction was done, ICICI “Technical experts” came back saying that the property was valued at only Rs. 70L. I was furious.

    I went to the Manager and told him that I am ready to pay Rs. 75L to the TECHNICAL expert, if he can get me a flat of the same type, in the same society.

    2 Hrs later my loan for Rs. 85L was approved. The technical experts are ABSOLUTELY USELESS UNPADH GANVARS.

    Imagine, The technical expert does not have an STD line in India. Shame shame.

    Mr. Yelurkar, The disbursal process will be even more of a pain and I shudder to think what I went through. Refer my other note on this

  48. Looks like ICICI bank is the con master among Banks.
    Here is my experience.
    Visited the M.G Road, Bangalore branch to open a current account. Was directed to a pleasant looking ever smiling guy, who introduced himself as Rajendra, Marketing executive for current accounts. He gave me a checklist of documents. And explained to me the various current accounts, the higher the QAB (Quartely Average Balance) more the facilities and benefits.

    The starting Current account was STANDARD with Rs.10,000/- QAB. Second CLASSIC with Rs.25,000/- QAB. Third PREMIUM with
    Rs.50,000/- QAB. Fourth GOLD with Rs.1,00,000/- QAB. Fifth with GOLD PLUS with Rs.3,00,000/- QAB.
    Explaiing these he asked me which account I would like to select, I told him I will go for CLASSIC that it Rs.25,000/- QAB.

    He tried to sell the PREMIUM account to me and I refused. He said fine no problem. Checked my documents and told me he does
    not want to waste my time and that he would fill up the application later and asked to sign on the application. He pointed the spaces where my signature was needed. I finished signing and thought what an understanding and helpful guy.

    To open the account a cheque of Rs.1000/- was required which I submitted with all the other documents.

    15 days later I got my account number and cheque books. As soon as I got the account number I deposited Rs.25000/- cash so as to always maintain the QAB. 6 months passed did quite a few transactions but always have been careful to maintain atleast
    Rs.25000/- balance. Now in my December statement there is a charge of Rs.700 plus 10.2% service tax of Rs.71.40 totalling to
    Rs.771.40 as charges for non-maintenace of QAB. Shocked I called up the call center and ater a long wait was glad to hear a human voice. The Rep told me I have not maintained the QAB of Rs.50,000/- hence the charge. When I told him I have opted
    for the CLASSIC account with Rs.25000/-, he replied Nope, our records show you have selected the GOLD account with Rs.50,000/- QAB.

    Wanting to get to the bottom of this I visited the M.G Road, Bangalore branch where I had opened the account. There I was directed to one Arun Jacob, the solutions Manager. I handed him a letter explaining what has happened and asking him to reverse the charge. He promised to get back to me in 2 days time. 3 days passed, no news from him. I called up the Bank, got his direct number and called him. As soon as I identified myself he said he will call my in 1 hours time. 3 hours later when I still did not hear from him I called him again. He told me he has seen my application and I have selected the PREMIUM
    account. I did not discuss anything further but the next day I landed up at the branch. Had to wait for 1 hour 15 min since he was in a meeting. I asked him to show me the application form where I had accepted the form. He tells me to wait, calls up an assisstant and asks him to retrieve the form. When I reminded him that he told me yesterday that he has the form with him, he had no answer. After 20 mins of wating finally he calls to a room with a print out of the application and shows it to me. And yes my signature is there in an empty box in the corner of the line where the different accounts are mentioned.

    And the check box of PREMIUM account is ticked! When I explained to him that I did not fill up the form and neither did I tick the check box. He told me but you have signed!

    When I got pissed off, he told me there has been instance where the marketing guy has used white ink to hide the tick and has ticked on higer QAB accounts and in those cases he has supported the customer completely. But in my case, it may not be possible.

    And why do the marketing guys do this? They get commission based on the type of accounts they sell. The higher the QAB higher the comission!

    He also showed me the new application where in under each category of accounts you have to sign in a big box right under it. When I pointed it out to him that the bank felt the need to change the form to avoid this kind of conning how many cases might have been reported. He remarked, “well I cannot say that, but even one case is bad for us.”

    He asked me to give him 15 days time to get back. During this this time I posted my experince in http://www.my3cents.com When there was no news from him for 20 days, I called him, at that point Arun Jacob started to ask me why I had posted in my3cents.com he was almost breathless. I told him I had posted what was the truth and wanted to create an awarness on what is happening. He told me fine now the matter is with the top people and I will receive a formal letter on whether the Non maintenace of QAB charge will be rolled back or not. A week later I received a mail from ICICI bank, it read we cannot roll back the charge as you had opted for the Premium account and your signature is present there. There was a signature saying Authorized signatory without any name. On comparing the signature with Arun Jacob’s signature from the application form it matched.

    I have downgraded my account from the premium account to the least QAB, Standard account now.

    So what I have concluded is ICICI bank is rotten from the top.

  50. I fully agree t o whatever every one has said above. It is teh World’s worst bank. They do not have any clue only. I had opened a Current Account before two years. Their representative infomred me that my account is opened under Gold Account holder and average monthly balance required to be mainted is Rs.100000/-. I wrote an e-mail to them to convert the account to Standard A/c. Even though they levied Rs1800/- as carges and it took me nearly 14 months to get those charges reveresed. I have stopped banking with them since then.

    I t is really a useless bank.

    I think every other bank should follow the same footsteps…..And about Nationalised Bank YES it is Good when u r late Guard wont allow u in…Dustful place….u have to stand chairs may be broken or less….services starts for 5 to 6 hrs and if it 8 to 8 YES u need to thank ICICI the initiator.

    And about MNC’s like HSBC, CITIBANK, STANCHART, ABN AMRO etc need to recall abt the EAST INDIA COMPANY which has arrived in India for business and what happens….

    ICICI is an INDIAN Bank we need to encourage such bank instead of comparing with MNC’s and atleast dont compare it with Nationalised Banks they are the worst one…mind it !

    the service at ICICI Bank is at its worst although they keep boasting of many things.

    I have never seen such a worst customer service even in a nationalised bank.

    it has been almost 2 weeks since my old father has gone to a mumbai branch and opened an account and even after 14 days the a/c is not even activated. and after much enquiry, they activated it yday; and then they say the cheque will go for clearance today 26/5/05.

    the bank has outsourced all kinds of a/c openings to DSAs. and all of them are nothing but absolute jokers who do not know anything about banking or the services involved.

    they have replied ruthlessly to a 78 year old man my dad - that they have a quota of 25 applications to look at, and at random they will send 5 applications for verification and when your turn comes only then yr a/c will be active. these jokers are explaining as to why it is getting delayed when enquired.

    when i can have an a/c opened with immediate effect in a nationalised bank, why should it take more than 14 days to activate a simple savings a/c with icici bank.

    and the best joke is, we thought, that the bank is doing good customer service and did some dollar transaction credit into my dad’s a/c from canada.

    and now, nobody knows where the dollar amount is lying till date.

    and there is no credit happening on this dollar transaction from 17th may 2006 - though wire transfer has been done thro swift.

    and the bank’s web site very grandly boasts of wire transfer within 24 hours, where as nothing happens even after 15 days.

    this is indian - ICICI Bank.

    is anybody out there in ICICI Bank listening to all these grievances of customers ?

    I am a NRI in the UK and hold a NRO account with ICICI.

    I was just trying to get a simple address change done to my account and its been a horrible experience.

    They ask for a bunch of documents just for a simple change of address and also we have to mail them all the way to Mumbai Branch in India. This is unlike Citibank where you get the address changed by only writing a simple letter and mailing it to their London branch.

    I mailed ICICI once with all the documents and I got a reply that my passport no was not as per their records and they wanted to see my passport copy and visa.
    I mailed these again and now I get another reply from them saying that my signature does not match what is present in their records and I need to send further documentation to prove this.
    I never changed my signature. I think their records system is all garbage and they dont have structured way of handling customer queries.

    I am now fed up with them and have mailed them to close my
    account permanently. I have to look for some other Bank for my NRI accounts.

    Any suggestions as to which one could be good to open an account with? I know anything else would be better than ICICI.

  72. Ok, I have my story to tell. I have used ICICI money2india power transfer for amounts to be remitted from CANADA to INDIA ( my mother’ account). Today is 6th June 2006 and I initiated wire transfer on 16th may 2006 more than 20 f** days I am still tossed up between call centres. I am back in India but my fund is still sitting in ICICI NOSTRO account in CANADA. I confirmed with TD Canada and they confirmed all the details regarding transfer of funds to ICICI account in ROYAL bank of CANADA. I am sick of following up with ICICI and no clue as when I am going to get money to my mother’ account.     I couldn’t agree less with you as I’m also a victim of ICICI NRI money Transfer. I live in France, I have used their Netexpress service to transfer money into my beneficiary’s account in India several times and they have never respected the time.

    But, this time they have crossed all their limits. I transferred 2500 Euros on the 23/05/06 and my beneficiary hasn’t recieved the funds yet. I have been trying to contact /call all the possible customer care numbers and sent several emails asking them to clarify but no one is giving me a satisfactory reply. They even have given me a RTGS tranfer no (saying the funds were remitted to the beneficiary’s account on 30/05/06) but they wouldn’t tell me if that transfer was successful or not!!

    They are into misguiding the customers and fooling them and keeping the money to themselves as long as possible. Could someone suggest, how to control this mal-practice and get this amount reached to my beneficiary?

  78. Hi All…This reply to my previous post..I got my money from f***ng ICICI NRI Cell…I had to actually fight with them. I went personally to ICICI NRI Cell here in Mumbai.. Lower parel…I made up my mind on that day..that i will cross all my limits..n i did it..I told them that I can sue them ..as I was carrying my company’s name..and have my colleauges more than 5 thousand in North America…I slammed ICICI NRI operation Head n Customer service head…I told them..that I wont be moving from there office till I get my money back..then surprisingly..they did contact their counterparts in CANADA..n issued me the Bank Draft on the same day..although I lost the interest for 21 f***ing days…I m planning to sue them..but finally I was able to get it back from thos ill b****ds..

    Any ways..lesson for all you folks..NEVER USE ICICI WIRE TRANSFER FROM CANADA ..MONEY2INDIA

    ICICI bank is really sucks and the worst bank of world and soon it will be in world record books for worst performance and worst service. i have an current account in ICICI bank. I have export business. i got transferable Letter of Credit for export. i am doing first time export business. so i need some guidelines for Letter of Credit. When i asked to them , without looking L/C they told L/c will be not transferable as it is Bank policy. then i went to that person from where i got l/C on friday. then they told me come on monday. i have done all documentation which they told. after that they told me to submit document and come tomorrow. they took 4 days which should take maximum 1 or two hours. One person told me to go another peroson. then another person told me to go another person. like typical govt people. This customer support people are really f***ing idiots. i don’t why this ICICI is paying them? but I lost three days. They are taking money for L/C collection and advising but when i am going to ask them something they doenot know anything about it. really idiots. i am thinking i will open account in another bank like ABN-AMRO or HSBC bank. i really fed up with them. our supplier is firing to me for getting late to transfer L/C. because if this idiots i lost 3 days. i really hate this bank. govt. banks are much more better than ICICI bank. Thease people doenot know anything about banking or Letter of Credit system. what for these f****ing people are there?

  96. ICICI works great as long as you have not encountered any problem, does not matter how small the problem is.

    If you want to use that Money2India, make sure your account is all set and you do write that damn password / user id some where. When I had to send Rs 40 Lakshs to buy a property in India, I thought it was a simple matter as I did money transfer throught that same service several times before. When the day came, my password is wrong. I can swear to god that I had not changed my password since I have created my account. I literally plead the customer service to help me by asking any sort of secrutiy question, but allow me to send money (I am not asking to pay me here, but take money from me and put it into my account). No use. I had to create a new account. And mistereously my original account that is linked to my ACH account started working with the same password after few days.

    I have used their Prepair Mobile Recharge service to recharge my relavites phones in India. Last year it worked like a charm. Basically ICICI setup all these cellphone providers as pre registered billers. So what they do is take money from my account and transfer them to the biller account. The biller is supposed to tacke action like give talktime for the money we paid. In this simple process, in this case AirTel choose to take no action.

    ICICI tells me that “we have successfully processed your payment, please contact the biller”. The same response was sent to me by 5 different NRI managers in 4 week long reply / response emails. All the time I was asking two simple questions 1) who is this biller and how do I contact them 2) why would they believe me that I paid Rs400 through ICICI ?.

    Instead of reading my questions, someone picks up my email (each time it is someone different), and sends the same 3 line standard reply.

    That Rs 400 is worth one single movie ticket. The point is not how much, but why ?

    I have taken “Communications” class as part of my MBA course only last month. I have used all of the techniques told in the class, but none of the techniques could make ICICI customer rep. read my email.

    Anyway, some one in this blog said, we should give a chance to ICICI and should not compare with MNCs. Well hold on to that thought until you get into some financial trouble. Their simple human mistakes can take some ones lives due to poor management.

    ICICI bank is no way safe to keep saving in to our account .ICICI Bank Credit Card Division with their DSA and collection agent having a great association with bank it self to impose any offer policy without customer confirmation and will charge in your statement .till you contact customer care and clarify they will impose heavy interest charges.and soon you will get life threat from their agents, you will not be able to do any thing.If you refuge to pay they will find your saving account In icici bank and with the help of icici bank network and create forged request AUTO DEBIT FACILITY for payment and on-line they will transfer your saving money amount to credit card account. i mate around 100-125 persons every month .
    So it is my request to all of the Existing ICICI Bank INDIA customer to Pl maintain bare minimum balance in your account and transfer your saving to other bank account which is safe .Like PNB,UTI BANK Etc.
    Because you can not get any help from Police also as this type of fraud and cheating is not having any restriction and Law against them in India.
    My advice to all - Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
    Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI

    I have ICICI NRI account. Due to their worst customer care service,
    i wanted to close my account. But i am not able to close my account
    and get my remaining money back to my local account in Japan.
    I have sent more tahn 15 emails and two written letters with
    my cheque book and ATM cards and other papers. The recent mail
    from them (August 14th 2006) is asking me to write a letter
    to their customer service to close my account. I was shocked gretaly!

  108. ICICI is the worst bank I’ve ever come across in my life too. I wish I had never seen their high interest rate in the Sunday Times!

    Due to bugs in their website login in, I can’t get online access to my account. I’ve had to chase them up to resend my password, then the same thing happened again.

    I faxed to close my account and when I telephoned to confirm receipt of fax, they said they would write in 2 days to confirm -they never did.

    After 8 days, I phoned again to find they did not receive my fax -what a surprise!

    Now I have to start all over again.

    In an alleged Internet banking fraud, Rs. 79,800 was fraudulently transferred from the ICICI bank account of a person, Sreedhar M, to other account of the same bank.
    The money was said to have been transferred to the account of Dipu.xxx.. of Mumbai.
    Realized after got a call from Mumbai ICICI customer service about the fradulant transaction and approched ICICI bank Habsiguda and complained about it, and also lanuched a complaint at nacharam police station..
    Its already month from now, ICICI bank are still investigating..Bank authorities assured our money will be safe as they blocked the money in dipu..account. I am not sure why is it taking so long and Bank people are not updating any status( they keep on saying its still under investigation)..We are confused what to do now…
    I appriciate your suggestion on this..
    I have no clue how this transaction is happened..? Can I make the issue public..? whom should I approach to get my money back…

  116. I have been facing lot of problem with SO CALLED ‘HUM HAIN NAA: PROBLEM create karne ke liye’ bank for last 4-5 years. This is one of the WORST Bank in India as far as customer’s faith is concerned. I can list most of the probles I faced but the list is long, so not including each one here.

    How many of know that ICICI & HDFC (two) bank collected Rupees 150 Crore penalty/fine from customers just not to maintaining the mininum average quarterly balance. This tells a good example of how these banks particularly ICICI cheat customer.

Hi , I am closely following this blog since I had trouble with ICICI NRI Cell, i was stuck for 21 days without money ( remember it was a wire transfer) should be done in 3 workign days, any ways..i think we can form a right forum and collectively we can sue ICICI or atleast get something rolling as finally it’s our money..we are at losing side. Does any one have a good legal contacts…can we do some action or just wait and read this blogs…

  120. GOD GAVE ME A CURSE BY WAY OF HAVING ICICI CREDIT CARD.Even after making all the payments well ahead of due date,they went on charging interest and service charges for two years. I wrote letters &sent e-mails to customer service center in Mumbai which is full of jokers and idiots &they could not be of any use. I have asked them to send their executive with records to show the veracity of figures.They have asked me to contact Ahmedabad office.Mistake is committed by them &we should keep on going from pillar to post.Dont ask even your enemy to have ICICI card & account in this cheaters bank.

  122. I’m a Canadian resident and without doubt, ICICI is the WORST BANK EVER ! While always polite and full of appologies (and they always have one excuse or another for whatever has gone wrong), so far, NOTHING promised by their customer service has been fulfilled. Meanwhile, I am out of pocket hundreds of dollars worth of interest because of THEIR unresolved mistake.

    Firstly, attracted by the high interest rate, the several tens of thousands of dollars I had sent as a deposit simply disappeared. It just didn’t exist when I checked on line ! Had it been an estate checking the account, nobody would have been any the wiser and goodness knows what would have happened to the money. Secondly, even though (so it was claimed) it was a technical error that caused the deposited amount not to show on-line in my account, it seemed it needed MY recognition of the discrepancy and MY intervention, before the amount was shown. In other words, THEY knew there had been a “technical error” yet it would seem that THEY didn’t correct any of the accounts it affected. The next problem that came to light was the fact that the amount was supposed to have been invested in a 30 day term deposit (same as two other smaller amounts had been done previously) but upon my asking what day it would be available to renew/roll over each month, I was told thet it had been invested for a one year term ! However, I was assured that all calls are recorded and that the matter would be resolved within a couple of business days. Since then, it has been one frustration after another and finally, I called and insisted that the amount in the one year term deposit be returned to my account. It was, but instead of the interest the amount would have accrued just sitting in a regular account, much less the fact that it was supposedly earning higher interest in a 30 day note, they short changed me by hundreds of dollars. Their claimed reason being that since I had cancelled the one year term deposit (set-up in error by THEM in the first place!), I would only be paid three quarters of one percent !

    My next step is a head office and/or ombudsman approach but if I have to, then in addition to newspaper and internet publicity I will go to Small Claims Court.

    So far, SOME of the ICICI contacts have been with Rhyphm, Suku, Shashi, Carri and someone called Abhijeet who is supposed to be a supervisor. Each and every contact has been a source of frustration often following long waits on the phone and always being asked stupid questions like “When did I FIRST open an account with the bank and with how much money” ! I think they expect you to remember that sort of information forever. Email contacts I tried to initiate resulted in return emails from India asking me to provide them with my 12 digit account number…by email…yea right…they don’t use TWELVE digit account numbers in Canada ! I also tried to complete an on-line customer satisfaction survey but when you access it, you get yet another appology (they’re great at appologies) that it is not available !

    Bottom line, I DO NOT recommend ANY dealings with this bank until they clean up their act…and from what I’ve seen so far, I’m not sure that is possible.

    As I write this I’m awaiting yet ANOTHER promised call back. A supervisor is supposed to get back to me within 3 or 4 hours !

    Is this kind of treatment the way to encourage customer satisfaction, support and loyalty ?

    In the month of April / May of the year of 2003 one of your agencies person Mr. Rohit from ICICI Bank contacted me regarding the personal loan.

    I applied for Rs 75000.00 & agreed to pay Rs 2813.00 for 36 Months as an installment suggested by Mr. Rohit.

    After about 10 Days of application Mr. Rohit called me and said that as per the bank calculation you are eligible for Rs 68000.00 only. If you want that amount then it will be credited in your saving account.

    I replied fine and it’s ok with me, [before the disbursement of the loan 6 blank cheques were taken by the bank from me as a security, if I intentionally do not want to repay the promised amount then in that case bank can use those cheques with my consent], but unfortunately on 25th June 2003, the bank have credited only Rs 55,926.00 in my account and till date I have paid the installments calculated on loan of Rs. 75, 000.00. Also I have not received any letter from the bank not even a disbursement latter.

    The installments were debiting from my account time to time but there was no response / receipts from any one from your ICICI BANK LIMITED personals despite my regular complaints for the short fall in the transferred amount & no downward change in the EMI .

    Finally after long time since I received no response from bank’s side I stopped operating ICICI bank’s saving account and then after two months the collection persons of your collection officer Mr. Amol & Mr. Harish from worli office started calling & started abusing, threatens to my family for nonpayment of the installments.

    My family started getting disturbed with the kind of calls we were receiving from your collection personal then I get in touch with Mr. Amol & Harish at worli office and I told them that this is the true reason for which I’m not paying. You look into the matter and do the needful. They told me that this is a mistake of bank and don’t pay any money until bank settles the issue.
    Then in the month of December 2004, I received a call from Mr. Ganes from their Central Office Hydrabad. He said that the difference amount cheque has been sent to you on 24th November 2004 at your residence address, which we never received.

    After another 10 days Ms Manisha from Mumbai [we don’t know from which branch called me and she told me that the difference amount has been credited in your Credit

    card account. But at that time there was no credit card with me and later when I got the credit card I never received such credits.

    After several requests & complaints to the bank, when I received no responses despite all humiliation that I and my family suffered, then I sent a notice to chairman BKC, Personal Loan department manager Mahalaxmi and till date we are awaiting for the reply.

    Then after 15 days time we did not get any reply from the bank I went to the Court & the court ordered Malad Police to investigate the matter.

    In spite of the court’s orders the bank personals didn’t get in touch with the police for at least a month or so to the police officer Mr. Ashok Naik [PSI Malad west police station], who was investigating this matter.

    6 Blank cheques were taken from me as a security before the disbursement of the loan. The bank officials in order to pressurize me deposited a cheque without my prior information and intimation as promised before. Thus it returned unpaid and the bank also sent me a legal notice under section 138. This breach of trust put me into lot of mental agony, Pain and discomfort where by health suffered and I could not do my professional responsibilities knowing to well that I am the sole bread earning member of my loving family.

    Then in the month of May or June 2006, I had received call from Mr Promod sharma Telis court, Delhi city warrant execution department [as he said about him self] at my residence and he told my wife that warrant has been issued against Mr. Rajkumar Tak and we have transferred the warrants to Mumbai Police & by tomorrow 4 PM the local police will come & arrest him. If you want to settle the matter and want to cancel the warrants then, call Mr. Indrajit Singh Mehta, advocate high court on his no. 09891211342.

    I called him up & he said that my client ICICI bank has field a complaint against you & you have to pay Rs 48,000.00 with in 24 Hours otherwise you will be behind bars. No advocate can save you to go to jail. But then nothing happened though only my wife & children’s were very scared.

    Again, on 11th September 2006, we received a similar call from Mr. Dekshit crime branch Delhi police [as he said on the phone about him self] that the local police reaching to your place to arrest both of you Mr. & Mrs Rajkumar Tak, within two hours and if they don’t find you at the place you will be declared wanted. If you want to settle the matter out of the court then please call Mr. Vikram Tyagi advocate high court Delhi on his no. 09910368452. I called up Mr. Vikram Tyagi, he told me that ICICI bank have field a complaint against you & the amount of Rs.1.5 lac you have to pay otherwise you will be in the trouble.

    Mr. Jankiraman, [Officer of ICICI Bank] Andheri - kural Road. Opp. Hotel Khoinoor, when contacted responded that the incoming phone calls are coming from Delhi are due to the instructions of the ICICI BANK LIMITED officials and the bank wants you to clear the matter. So the phone calls was made deliberately by the instruction of the corrupt ICICI Bank LIMITED officials and they kept on threatening me and my family despite the fact that police is investigating the case which is also in the knowledge of Mr.. Jankiraman.

    After that I have filed a NC at Malad police station against such callers to the duty officers PSI Mr. Ashok Naik at malad police station. They said that without court’s notice no one can come to arrest you. Who ever is calling you they are only trying to threat you.

    Then Mr. Jankiraman called me again to meet him to clear the issue I went to his office at Andheri to meet him.

    Then his lawyer Mr. Paliwal said to me if you are in any hope that you will get any compensation from bank or bank will way off the outstanding amount then please be clear it is not possible it is public money. I replied to him that the matter is in the court and I will fight till the end for justice to be done for me and my dear family no matter what money time and hardship that I have to face.

    “I told him that I not only want justice for my self and my dear family but also to the public / consumers facing such harassment’s due to the nexus between corrupt ICICI officials and anti social elements degrading the esteem character of the public and peace loving citizen of our country.�

    Then again without prior intimation Mr. Janki Raman went to my home and hypocritically said sorry to my wife for the events that has transpired because of the unholy behavior of the ICICI BANK LIMITED, for which my wife and my family faced in our life due to this traumatic experience for the last three years, the memories will not fade so easily. This hypocrisy is quit contrary to the antisocial behavior which they potrayed during the last long three years of our suffering.

    Then my wife objected to this “hypocrisy by telling the officials, that they only realized the inhuman injustice done to my Dear Husband / Family only after my husband fought repeatedly make you realized for justice with courage / sacrifice and conviction due to the lapse of the corrupt officials of the ICICI BANK LIMITED even at the risk of earning our day to day livelihood of our family.�

    The ICICI BANK LIMITED offers prompt services and quick loans to it’s customers through it’s marketing executives and advertisements but very unfortunately it must be recorded that “instead to settle matters in the right perceptive/ direction, it has resorted to unhealthy practices for me and my family in particular.� despite “Court’s Judgments instructs that Banks should not deal with customers using antisocial ways & means / people.� But the ICICI BANK LIMITED has deliberately broken all codes of human courtesy and norms of public services.

    This inhuman treatment / antisocial conduct by the ICICI BANK LIMITED officials has cost me tremendous loss of health, Hardship, Mental Tortures to my dear family & me for the approximately last three years. I strongly object to this harassment to me and my family, which is to be rightly compensated to my family and me and in the interest of like minded peace loving citizens at large. I hope this representation is taken seriously and justice ensured at the earliest.

  128. They are going too big in size but not service . it is PROVEN that they do no take care for small things ( according to their perpective ) REASON.. RBI donot punish them when ICICI does any mistake or unwanted delay or even lack of assured srvice ,so the bank just get away with SORRY or in some cases with sorry letter . wheras if the customer does a mistake EVEN due to inevitable situation they PUNSIH them by means of CHARGES. AS long as the RULE OF THE GAME is FAIR bank will go NOT ONLY feel FREE but also not bothered about their follies ..because NO ONE is there to punish or levy penalties for every mistake they DO .

I reported a problem almost a month back and after 10-12 calls and 15 odd emails, no solution.I have been in this business for last 10 yrs and believe me I would have taken retriement and would have never shown my face again if the problem had persisted for so long. I think overall business culture in ICICI is totally rotten .5 months back I opend my salary account in london branch and as usual you have the best bunch of stupid people here as well. it took them almost a month to activate my account. I have usually found your support people in delhi and noida branches so rude and arrogant, I really hate at the prospect of going to any of these branches. you little people just out of god damn business schools think that every other customer is an idiot and totally at your mercy. you people are so full of yourself.
    every other day I see mails from your bank so full of itself. I really cringe seeing your emails and adverts with such fullsome praises of itself. If you people are still left with an iota of self respect and dignity, pls look for some other job. there are far better people waiting outside to take over from you.

    I too am not at all satisfied with the customer service. I raised request for internet banking UID and password which I till date never received. Everytime I call the Customer Service, they say “Sir this was despatched two weeks back to your communication address, but no one was there to collect it so we routed it to your parent branch, Kahiratabad, Hyderabad”. I have my parents and wife present at home all the time. How on earth can they say, “no one was available..” and what abt the courier folks, they would have left a note “we missed you” asking me to collect the same from their office….

    Recently I applied for a Pre-Approved loan. I submitted two forms of Address proof - a rental agreement and another a copy of Telephone bill (ofcourse not the one you get monthly but a duplicate. But the same was authenticated with a stamp by the BSNL staff). Now they have put this on hold wanting additional address proof… Pathetic!!!!

  138. Modi Builders Hyd ICICI Home loans cheat customers

    The modus operandi of this fraud goes like this

    1)One year back Plot booked in Golden Palms Ameenpur venture of Modi Builders and sale agreement made.But not registered.Plot is Under Huda Mortgage so you cannot get Housing loan released till Huda releases mortagage.

    2)Builder want to sell this plot to another

    customer as price is doubled in one year.So builder threatens
    you by sending a cancellation letter saying you did not went for Housing loan.

    3)After threatening, builder will give three days time for housing loan sanction.In order to get the loan
    processed immediately builder will provide one of the bank agent working for them.

    4)Housing loan will be sanctioned in 3 days and original sale agreement, post dated checks etc will be
    taken for loan processing by the bank agent.But no acknowledgement will be given for the documents received saying “As per Banks policy they wont issue acknowledgement for the documents received for housing loan”.

    Here starts the real show.

    5)Banker delays for one month saying a)The loan agreement documents are changed.
    b)RBI rules are changed.

    After that banker says the document is invalid and asks for New sale agreement from builder and banker himself submits the document to the builder.

    6)Builder demands 10 lakhs more for the new sale agreement else Builder threatens to destroy the
    original sale agreement.

    7)If you ask the bank to return the sale agreement they keep delaying till you succumb to builders
    threats.

    8)If you dont agree for paying 10 more lakhs builder sends a letter stating that you yourself accepted
    cancellation and forwarded the original sale agreement
    to them and they destroyed sale agreement as it is
    invalid.

    9)If you ask the bank they say “Be happy that atleast you know where the document is.What you are going to do with the invalid document”.

    10)If you say you want to proceed legally the builder says “We are used to these legal cases as there are already many cases against us in our various ventures.Yours will be one more.Do what ever you
    want”.

    You are completely trapped. Customers beware.

    Never ever give any documents to ICICI without any acknowledgements from Bank.

    If you made any sale agreement with the builder register them first.

    Never book Huda Mortgaged plots as it takes years for getting Fianl Approval. In the mean time the land price will increase and the builder and bank will start the cheating game again.

  140. I had a home loan taken from ICICI in 2003. I closed it recently by taking a property mortgage loan from ICICI and the deal was that they would close the home loan and give me the remaining money. They did that, but the final amount towwards the home loan closure included the principal amount outstanding + pre closure charges of 2% and penalty charges. The first two were justified but not the third. On approaching ICICI they told me that the penalty was because some EMIs bounced during my tenure. I asked them, if I am a defaulter in EMI, how did your sanctioning department sanction a loan three times the home loan. I also told them that I have enough evidence to prove that I have not defaulted a single month. Here is the email that I sent to them. I am still fighting and am planning on filing a case against ICICI either in the regular court or the consumer court and ask for compensation for harrassment. You will find some of the goof ups by ICICI so hilarious. Here is my latest email to them.

    Appreciate the prompt response. I am ok for ICICI to take time as long as they resolve my problem and revert the money back, which is mine. I dont understand how a bank as reputed as ICICI can levy penalty without any proof. If I show all the emails that I have exchanged with ICICI it will clearly expose the discrepancies and faults of your banks system (attached one as a sample in this email). Here are some of them and I would like you read through it patiently.

    1. When I opened a home loan account, they created two account numbers by swapping the first two digits. I had issued auto debit from my ICICI savings account and they would apply it against one account and the other account would obviously not receive the EMI. Then they would harass me over phone stating that my montly EMI is due and not paid. They have even sent the collection department home. I have concrete proof for this.

    2. On one or two occassions they have tried to do an auto debit on the 3rd of the month and not 7th. Normally I would deposit a Citibank cheque in ICICI bank on the 1st, so that the money would be available on 7th for auto debit. They came back to me and told me that your EMI did not materialize due to lack of fund. On investigation it was found that they had tried to do an auto debit on 3rd. Is that my fault? I have evidence for this also. They even withdrew Rs 5630 as penalty for this. When I raised objection to it, they did their investigation (as usual a reactive investigation) and reverted back the Rs 5630. So it only goes to tell that ICICI made a mistake and had wrongly penalized me.

    3. Then to avoid all these issues and depositing a Citibank cheque every month in ICICI, I went and stopped the auto debit, signed and gave the necessary forms and letter to ICICI and issued 12 Citibank cheques. You can check your records and find this letter that I have given along with instructions to stop auto debit. They not only banked my Citibank cheque towards EMI, but also tried to do an auto debit from the earlier ICICI savings account bank. Obviously the auto debit would not go through as I did not maintain funds in the ICICI bank as I had given Citibank cheques. Yet again they came harassing me stating that the auto debit did not go through. Once again my record was tainted as RED. Had to go through all the rigarmore of explaining to them that I no longer have the auto debit and it is cheques now and also had to highlight that for that month the EMI has reached ICICI as my Citibank account shows that the cheque has cleraed.

    4. Then last year they came to me and told me that Mumbai branch has lost 5 of my cheques (out of the 12 cheques given for a year). I issued new cheques. I have a letter from ICICI stating that it was their mistake and that they lost the cheques.

    5. Recently this year when my cheques were to get over in July they approached me for new set of 12 cheques in June. I told them I dont want to give cheques as they lost my cheques last year and that I prefer to go for ECS. They sent a representative to my house in the 3rd week of June. I gave them the ECS forms duly signed and 3 security cheques. I also gave one void cheque. When the time came for the EMI to be taken via ECS from Citibank, I realized that it did not happen on 7th. Nobody approached me to ask me about the EMI. I then raised a customer care request asking them why the EMI was not taken for August 2006. On Investigation they told me that they had missed doing it and that it would be done in the 21st or 22nd cycle. Then in the 21st cycle the EMI request did go to Citibank but it was rejected by Citibank. When I called up ICICI to check why this happened, they told me that my bank Citibank did not approve the ECS. I called up Citibank and I gathered from them that there are two forms to be signed for ECS i.e. acknowledgment form and the mandate form. ICICI representative who came home to take my signatures took my signature in only one form and that is why Citibank rejected the ECS. I requested Citibank to pass it through and they did do so and from then the ECS went smoothly. I am sure agian my record would have been updated as EMI being bounced or not received.

    6. Apart from all these, there have been numerous occassions, when my EMI would not be taken on 7th and I have sent reminders to ICICI bank to take the EMI. I have also commented that I might be the only customer who calls up a bank and requests them to withdraw EMI. I have emails regarding these conversations.

    7. I went to ICICI bank at MG Road, Bangalore on several occassions to sort out this issue. I have sat personally with your employees in ICICI, gone through all my records and pointed out the mistakes of ICICI. They assured me that they will get the records cleaned up. But it was just a false promise and I gathered later that the employee I spoke to quit ICICI bank. Who suffered in the end, the CUSTOMER. Whenever I personally go to the bank to sort out the issues, I would be promised that everything would be set right, but they are just hollow words from employees, who dont give a damn to the customers problems.

    I have highlighted most of the incidents that has happened in the last 3 1/2 years as a home loan customer and I hope I would not have to repeat it again and that you would do what investigation you need to do and return that penalty applied, with interest for whatever period you had it on hold. As I mentioned over the phone to you I am dead serious of taking this up legally and filing a case against ICICI and ask for compensation for harassing a customer who has always paid on time. I have my Citibank bank statments for the last 4 years, with not a single cheque bounced. You can also check my ICICI savings account (which is closed now) to see if any cheque bounced. Except for the early withdrawal of EMI as mentioned in point # 2 above, there have been no issues. My ICICI bank account number was XXXXXXXXXXX. Apart from this I have all the correspondence between me (I have attached one as a sample, please go through it) and ICICI bank and I have a very very strong case, with all the evidences and can pursue this legally.

    It is so funny that the marketing department and the sanction department is in agreement with me and have also out of their own interest in order to help me out, have sent emails to customer care and home loan department stating that I have not defaulted. Yet home loan department is not doing anything to sort out this case and return the wrongly penalized amount. If I was a defaulter how did ICICI bank sanction a higher amount of three times the home loan amount and even give me the money? You need to answer this for yourselves. Here are some numbers from the marketing and sanction department, who you can talk to and discuss. They have sent the email to home loan department. The marketing department contact is Mr. XXXXXXXXXX and the sanction department contact is XXXXXXXXX (he has apparently sent two emails to home loan department clearing me of all faults, but home loan department is not acting on it).

    I hope to get a resolution to this by Friday next week, else I will do what needs to be done to get my money back, which is rightfully mine.

  144. Guys, Nice to know that this kind of a page is available where I can write “something” about my ICICI experience. I’m one of the ‘luckiest’ person who is trying to open an ICICI NRI account for more than an year. My request is properly accepted and they sent all the documents to “ME”… but when I contacted the courier company, the information I received was shocking. My kit has been delivered already to another person who accepted the kit also. I checked the name against the follow-up number given by ICICI and to my surprise, that courier was not meant to me.. but ofcourse ICICI claims that, the kit delivered to ‘other person’ is mine. Now I’ve been following it up with their customer care for last 6 months and I keep getting mails saying - THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE -
    You may be wondering, why am I waiting this long. I want to know how long it takes for a booming bank in India to open an NRI account.

  148. ICICI Service Team, It seems that you guys are trying to uplift the ICICI bank’s image just writing Please contact…… or please give the details to …… . What do you guys think this will help? I don’t think so… and quite sure most of the customer has the same openion.

    If ICICI really does not want to harass & cheat the customer, please fot god’s sake validate/verify the process you guys follow.

    I am ICICI customer for last 6 years and I face following prolems:
    1. ICICI M.G. Road Branch treat the customers like ‘DOG’. If u have two or four wheeler’s u need to wait around 20 minutes just to enter into the bank premise, they say parking is not available, even the enough parking is available.
    2. Once u enter the premise u need to take the coupens for any kind of work and believe me you must have to wait for minimum 45-60 minutes for your turn. Even after your turn it is highly possible that the representative may send u to other counter there again there will be Q…. and don’t get surprised if your simple problem is not resolved even after 2 hours spending in the bank branch.
    3. ICICI customer service is really pathetic. One of my relative deposited Rs. 10000/- into my ICICI bank a/c in jamshedpur branch… but the amount was not credited into my a/c when I called customer care they did not give my any complain number they say I will receive the call from ICICI. I never received the call, when called again got the same answer. Third & fourth time I have repetedly insisted for complaim number then they disconnected the call.
    4. I have paid the outstanding balance online to my ICICI credit card thru the ICICI bank site only. even after 24 hours that amount is not reflected into my credit card. When called to cust care and some how got the chance to apeak with senior executive, they said it will take minimum 48 hours… I am surprised, why it should take 48 hours even after online transfer from ICICI saving a/c to credit card? The amount is deducted immediately from the saving bank a/c but not reflected into the credit card. Where the money lying for more than 48 hours? the answer is ICICI is using that money from so many customers.
    5. Whenever I transfer the money from ICICI’s money2india. The amount is deducted from the oversead a/c immediately but ICICI use that amoney also for almost around 10 days and only after 10 days that money is reflected into my India saving a/c. Some times even after 20 working days amount is not reflected into my saving a/c (india). What ICICI is doing with the money for around 10 days?

    The problem list is long HOW ICICI CHEAT CUSTOMERS.

    Friends I have the same aweful experience with Money2India. There customer service sucks. Any bad word could fit for them. They always take 3 business days for any type of query. I placed a request for transferring money to open a FCNR account. They took the money.. (how smart they are). But never opened the account. After waiting for one month I started following up for my money, for fifteen days they kept telling me its under process.. some one will call you…this and that… These bunch of pricks are so bullshit.. still havent done anything yet. Now after one and half month someone called me that there are some new regulations. But notice one thing.. they will keep money with them no matter how long it will take….Relationship Manager Kewal Kumar is so drunk for all month… he didnt have a moment to work…… Another relationship manager is coming now…. apologize apologize and apologize… nothing else…….. if we make a mistake they will charge for that immediately…. just try to bounce a check….they will charge you immediately and explain that this is banks policy. But if they eat your interest of USD 2500 for 45 days. There is no bank policy other than apologize. Doing business is like hurting yourself. Customer care people are all novice and stupid. They dont know anything! Even the supervisers are such useless. Never will be able to resolve any issue. So far the growth of ICICI is because most of the other banks are government bank which are slow and have manual procedures. But other private banks are entering in Indian market and soon ICICI will be wrapped up in dash dash place. You can fill the dash dash!

  154. The same problem happened with me. I purchased car. The loan I get from ICICI bank. I signed each and every document that was given by the representative. Now the problem came on 10 january. When I checked my citibank account the ECS had been rejected by citibank. On the same day, I called ICICI customer care. They were not telling anything in details what happend to ECS. Then I called to citibank, from there I came to know that there is one extra form that has to submitted (mandate form) with the documents. I don’t know whether this is mistake from the bankside or from ourside. After five days from the ECS, they send one representative to collect the EMI cheque. So, is this type of service we are expecting from the bank? I think really this bank is lagging in terms of services.

    It took a while and the sending of further emails to both the executives at the bank and to the banks ombudsman but FINALLY, here we are almost 4 months later and I finally get a call. They told me that the missing interest had been put into my account and when I checked it had. The amount is slightly smaller than what I expected and no consideration seems to have been given to any additional interest that has been lost by the original amount not being in my account sooner. However, it is at least something and we’ll see what happens from this point forward.

    Today when I wanted to make a transfer from my account I just came across one more hurdle ICICI bank has so ridiculously setup to make a transfer. We are asked to enter digits from the Debit/ATM card Grid. Until now I had no clue what in the world this is. I also realized that my Debit card has expired on December 06 and ICICI bank hasnt even sent me one yet. Without sending folks a new Debit card how ridiculous of ICICI to change its online money transfer procedures, looks like somebody somewhere was out of their mind when implementing such a procedure. How can you guys implement procedures that are an agony and cause emotinal distress to your customers, how dare of you guys to create hurdles and in my case completely stop me from making a money transfer in an emergency.

    I need to transfer money to my brothers account immediately and when I call Customer Service to see if they can atleast help me out with this one transfer, damn they express their inability because I dont have my new Debit card without which I cant make a Transfer. Please step into my shoes and see how Ridiculous and terrible this sounds. You guys have created hinderances to transfer my own money the way I want and in this case I cant even make a transfer as I havent even have my new Debit Card.

    This whole thing is outrageous as I cant make a transfer to my brother in an emergency and I will be looking to complain to the “Federal Trade Commission” in the USA. You guys cant do this to me.

    If Iam not able to make a transfer by Monday at the most I will be raising complaints with the consumer courts as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

    Also I will be looking to close down my account with ICICI the moment I open another account with another bank.

    My strong language should be an indicator of how successfully ICICI has been in driving its customers mad. How terrible it is that you put your customers through such emotional distress, my entire weekend is screwed up because of my inability to make a transfer in an emergency to my brother and Iam not going to let go of this incident easily.
