  3. malgudi days is my all time favorite. especially ’swamy’ is my best…and it is fantasticallly directed. all credit to manjunath and other kids and of course to entire team.
    i really like background score and the music at beginning and ending of the serial
    i would like to know whether there are any DVDs or CDs available online of the entire serial. am ready to buy for my library.

    Retro - Yes, it comes at 11.30 PM and now it is highly possible that it might be repeat telecast…

    Sudheendra - I am also looking for DVDs of whole series like crazy but the problem is…they haven’t released it yet…

    I have emailed them from their website regarding this..I hope they reply atleast….

  5. I just asked my brother, he says POGO airs even at 8:30 pm. But for confirmation, I checked with The Hindu TV guide, but it’s not listed there even at 11:30am.. but he says it’s aired even at evenings..

    Lol.. I was looking to download, but unfortunetly it’s not available anywhere.

  23. This is cool… A Malgudi days network!! Yup, aired on Pogo at 8:30pm. Am trying hard everyday to get home in time to see it. Have not bought the DVD yet but am really trying to get the soundtrack. Vidyanathan did a great job and Mohiuddin’s voice is irreplacable!!

    Can anyone please tell me where can I buy the DVD on a store in B’lore or Chennai. Also I understand there were 39 original episodes telecasted and if the DVD set consists all those.

    Will be visiting India shortly and can’t wait to get the hands on the DVD.

  42. im one of the best lovers of malgudidays …….and my sincere request is to you to telecaste it again in a regular timings previously it was telecasted in an irregular timings and due tiredness i missed many episodes can you pls telecaste it again for the sake of all malgudidays lovers

  44. malgudi days is genuinely a novel work of art…what impresses me most is a candid portrayal of the simpletons of Malgudi, the realistic backdrop and the eloquent story telling…to top it all is the cute little “Swamy” and the notoriously catchy title track…
    they have recently released a collector’s dvd set comprising of 2 dvds…13 episodes in all…& only 1 of swamy’s stories…costs around 20-25$…
    am looking forward to a compilation of all the episodes especially Swamy’s…if anyone has any links please let us know…

    to begin with , i will not describe myself as a great diehard fan of Malgudi days, but i m one of those people who scan channels to watch nostalgic programs and relive those good ol’ days…

    Malgudi days really gives u that feeling from the very beginning title song… u feel as if u r teleported to the distant past !!!!! sometimes its so nostalgic that my eyes well up…. i miss my friends and schoolmates….hope it is the same with u people too.

    i like the way Malgudi days has been directed… they project indian society in the pre-independance era which by itself is a force that makes u feel cosy and recollect those moments in ur life..

    watching those kids play on roads, old shacky houses, Khadi dresses, those Porcelin achar(Pickle) bottles, Grandma calling our names(with love and tender care)…ABSOLUTELY GREAT..

    Wow, that is the longest blog i have ever written..i hope this blog is my most nostalgic blog group ever… Thank u guys and lets keep the Malgudi days alive…… :)

    its nice to know so many people appreciate Malgudi days,it reminds me of my childhood days in Malleswaram………well i think it is one of the most original art pieces in indian television.
    I was wondering if the imagination of the word Mal gudi came from Malleswaram and Basavangudi ie mal+Gudi=Malgudi………????…..any body shares any light in it?
    well again many thanks for raising the topic of malgudi days………will sure try to buy the episodes when i come to India this time around.
    May be it is not long before a Malgudi club will raise…….well hopefully.

    Its great to see this bustling Malgudi days forum here !! I am based in Singapore, and was pleasantly surprised when I spoke to a few school children here (chinese) when they said that they were dying to get their hands on the malgudi days vcd. apparently, rk narayan’s books are part of the literature curriculm for schools here !
    any luck for you guys to get your hands on the vcd/dvd’s ?
