Earlier I was pretty impressed with the services of Hutch but as time passed by, they started acting bad. Their mobile network became weaker than ever. I can’t even talk properly in my home, the voice juts breaks and line gets disconnected if I move from my room to my kitchen.

And now today. I faced a really bad problem with them. I got advanced GPRS activated on my phone so that I can use it whenever I am out. And to configure that only, it took me ages and in the end I only fixed the problem.

I bought Bluetooth USB device today so that I can connect directly to the net without a connecting cable. (The cable with they had given was not working properly for some reason)

Okay, everything well, the machine detected the phone, phone detected the machine, everything went on smoothly so I was kind of happy. So then I tried to connect the net using GPRS, got error for the first time, Okay, that’s okay…tried for the 2nd time, error again, 3rd time, error again, 4th time error, Okay!! Time to call Hutch customer support.

Okay, called them, asked for my number, name and then asked my date of birth, address and alternative phone number. Okay sounds good, we are ready to go. I am transferred to the GPRS department.

They suggested few things to me, made changes, modified the settings, but still no luck. I was asked to try again because of network connectivity problem.

Called them up after 1 hour, again phone number, full name, address, date of birth, alternative phone number and phone details, okay enough, I am transferred to the GPRS department, again we tried few things but didn’t help. I disconnected the line to try out few other things.

Okay, nothing worked, called up again from the train. Got them…they asked me again phone number, full name, address, date of birth, alternative phone number and phone details, I told them, the line gets disconnected because of their weak network. (I am still in Mumbai)

Tried them again, I was asked for the phone number and name, to avoid the same shit again, I asked them, please transfer me to GPRS department, I was talking to them and line got disconnected but NO, the guy said sorry sir for security reasons you will have to tell us your address, date of birth and alternative phone number again, I got bit pissed off but since I wanted to fix this immediately, I told them all details and I am ready to go….

And as expected, the line got disconnected again.

Okay, one more shot, at this stage I was totally pissed off with them, called them up, person asked me for the details, then he started for security reasons we will have to know your address, date of birth and alternative phone number, Before he finishes his line, I almost shouted at him, what the hell you guys are doing, I am calling for 6th time and you guys are asking me same details again and again. Do you want me to give all the details I entered while I filled up the form, please transfer me to GPRS department, It’s urgent.

I got reply, I am really sorry sir but I wont be able to do that without knowing these details. Gave them the details. I told them I am getting disconnected again and again, please call me if I get disconnected this time, the answer was, they do not have outgoing call facility from their office. Okay, it is possible if it is call center. No problems, I am transferred to the person, I was discussing with him and in between the line got disconnected.

Just imagine the state of mind I had at that time, totally frustrated and pissed off with them.

So finally I tried to kick my Bluetooth device and try to connect using the cable given by them, it worked!!! I was very happy, my net got connected BUT I was not able to surf now.

Called them up again and I was also trying few things on my side to get it working. The guy asked for address, date of birth and alternative phone number but before I tell them, the net started and I disconnected the line. (God saved me this time from telling them my details again)

So the point for this post is, actually 2 points, 1, to get you irritated by reading “address, date of birth and alternative phone number� again and again, and feel the level of frustration I was facing.

2nd Hutch should really give some kind of pin code to customers to avoid this stupid kind of thing. Bloody we have to tell them the details each and every time we call.

Please do not mind few grammatical mistakes or spelling mistakes in this post, I am posting it from the train, the battery is low so I will have to shut down the machine now.

P.S Hutch GPRS sucks too, I had clicked on my site 15 minutes back and it is still opening. Okay my bad, I am on roaming now, and I do not see Hutch in the mobile networks, I will post it once I reach Kutch.

  3. I’m a hutch mumbai user. My hutch SIM get crashed every 2 months .. I’m using hutch for last 3 years(from the time when it was Orange). Since I used Prepaid plans it was good. The time when I shifted to postpaid it became hell for me. Network connectivity become worst and SIM started crashing every 2 months.
    I have changed the SIM 3 times. This sunday again SIM crashed and still I’m waiting for new SIM. There customer care and service both are useless. Now I have plan to shift to some other service provider. 3 years back I used Airtel, that was also pethatic. I think theres still no future for new technologies. yess Hutch sucks.

Hutch service is sad..i had a hutch phone which i canceled in the end of sept 2006 and they claim to have disconnected on 31/09/06 (September does not have 31st)and then i again receive a bill in December and when i call hutch they say that i own them the money in spite of settling the bills in the month of October and they want me to pay the hutch bills again. after using the service for an year and their pathatic service they want their customer to pay bills twice. its being too much greedy hutch!!

    I GUESS AS A CUSTOMERS OF HUTCH WE SHOUL ALWAYS USE THE CAPTION OH HUTCH YOU SUCK , BCZ THE NETWORK IS CERTAINLY DAMAGING SYMBIAN BASED PHONES BEC OF THE POOR NETWORK , WEAKER SIGNAL STRENGTH,CONSTANT CALL DROPS AND VOICE BREAKS. TRY CALLING UP HUTCH AND WHAT THEY SAY IS UPGRADING NETWORK , LOOK AT THEIR LAME EXCUSE UPGRADING FROM 900MHZ TO 1800 MHZ !!!AND AT TIMES SOME C CARE GUYS ARE GOOD ENUF TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT NETWORK IS BAD IN FEW POCKETS OF HYDERABAD .     I had big hopes on it for its service
    but it turns out that its service is the worst.

    with great enthusiasm I bought a gprs phone motorola a630 this is mini communicator.

    I tried out some web search and some enquiries and it appeared hutch gives lowest cost gprs connection . I thought great went to a nearest
    gprs dealer , they do not know about gprs enquired and found yes on prepaid also they gprs service but how to make it work they do not know need to call customer care
    allright took the prepaid service , called the customer care no , no service now anly 9-5 allright next day called after 9 , can not get through the network busy , try again after 1 hr like that several times no luck
    call through landline , got through , address verificaion blah blah , please hold ok,
    then sorry sir we can not serve you you need to call from your mobile set only.

    i said i am not getting the line through mobile they say sorry we can help you . then they say any thing else did they serve well were they able to satisfy me etc.

    I called from my phone after 2 days got through
    all verification transfer from dept to dept then
    they could not find my mobile model in the data base can not set I need to walk into their head office.

    I can not get time , managed to send someone after 2 days.
    they said tried but could not set it.

    I wonder why they can not make gprs work on phone with gprs support ? they just need to enter all the fields the phone asks .

    but no
    now my prepaid amount I have to use up and throw
    the sim in moosi river I think.

    Huthch the worst in know how worst in service.

  15. DEAR SIR , I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE REGIO YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. IN HYDERABAD ALSO SOFTWARE UPGRADATION IS UNDERGOING. A SOFTWARE UPGRADATION MEANS A HUGE PROCESS RIGHT FROM ITS INTIATION TO DESIGN , ANALYSIS AND EVERYHTINH. SO IT IS SOMETIME BEFORE YOU HAVE TO BEAR WITH US. AS FAR AS THE NETWORK POBLEM , NO NETWORK UPGRADATION IS GOING ON AS OF NOW. NEW UPGRADATION IN NO WAY AFFECTS THE CURRENT SETTINGS SINCE WE TEST THEM ON A DIFFERENT PLATFORM. BUT IN REGIONS WHERE HUTCH HAS TAKEN OVER OTHER CELLULAR SERVICES A COMPLETE DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN SAMCTIONED SO AS TO COMPLY WITH OUR EXISTING SOFTWARES. IT IS A MATTER OF TIME WHEN WE COME UP WITH BEST SERVICES. PLEASE BEAR WITH US .

  17. I was a customer of BPL for the past 4 years.. I admit that they didnt provide a gprs or mms or edge or any new tech: like that…. But they didnt have a network problem at all.. There network never went down in the peroid of my use..As soon as the Hucth took over problems started one by one… They have been upgrading there network of the past 3 months and there softwares for past one month and still doing it… I am also a network administrator.. Only doubt for me is that what as software yaar.. which should take a whole month to get upgraded??? I have never seen one.. Ha Ha Ha..

    now I am too sufferring due to some upgration work of theirs..so no chance to call and receive and when asked at their customer care. THey responded that it wll take a time of 2 days..screwed up service.
