First of all, sorry guys for missing out movies like Corporate and Golmaal, few things just did not let me post reviews on these movies.
Okay….
The movie is adaption of William Shakespeare’s Othello and is about Omkara aka Omi Bhaiya (Ajay Devgan) and his 2 hands, Langda Tyagi (Saif Ali Khan) and Kesu (Vivek Oberoi), Ok Ok, I am bad…I admit it….
Omkara Shukla (Ajay Devgan) is a revered chieftain of a gang of outlaws. Prominent among the members of his group are the wily Ishwar ‘Langda’ Tyagi (Saif Ali Khan) and lively Keshav Upadhyay or Kesu (Vivek Oberoi).
When Kesu is appointed chief lieutenant to Omkara, Langda jealously decides to involve Omkara’s fiancee Dolly Mishra (Kareena Kapoor) in an illicit affair with Kesu, with the help of a little insinuation and a great deal of lies. The consequences are, of course, tragic. By the time Omkara realises his mistake, it is too late.
From the beginning only the movie gives a different impression, it has comedy, it has action, it has drama and a very good climax…
The movie starts with Langda Tyagi explaining the difference between bewakoof and chu**** The first dialogue only makes you think, is that Saif? He was pretty different in Hum Tum….this role will be his one of the best roles till now. A very different character and very impressive indeed.
Few scenes in the movie just make you clap your hands…
The movie also stars Bipasha Basu (Billo Chaman Bahar), Naseeruddin Shah (Bhaisaab) and Konkana Sen Sharma (Indu, Langda Tyagi’s wife), they all have done their part well. Bipasha did not have anything to do but dancing in the stage shows or say mujras or say dance parties or whatever you call it.
Okay, let me review everything one by one…
Storyline: A very strong story which keeps you on hold till the end.
Music: Very impressive music, but it does not appeal the masses. It will be loved by music lovers like Badar Munir and me.
Acting:
Ajay Devgan: It is Ajay Devgan!!! How can he be bad? Rockstar!!ÂÂ
Saif Ali Khan: I hate him!! I just hate him, how can he act so naturally? Award winning material
Vivek Oberoi: Does his part well, nothing great to do. He is kind of bali ka bakra in the movie.
Kareena Kapoor: Did her part very well, she needs to act in more films like this.
So to sum it up, I would give the movie 4 stars out of 5. It is a “must watch” movie and should watch only in theatres.

Golmaal is a remake of some tamil movie. I forgot the name of the movie but I have seen the same story before!!

Wow, there is hope in Bollywood. People are interested in making Cinema. It’s so pleasing to see somebody focussed to make a good movie than good money.
I can’t believe Saif Ali Khan. He was incredible as Langda Tyagi, one of the finest movie characters of all time. He pulled it off with such ease and gave it so much credibility. Amazing performance, what an actor.

I have views similar to yours. Like you say, it is a must-watch, but I think the music will appeal to the masses. The sales figures will show, eventuually.

I read the play when i was in college 8 years back and then relive that when i watched Throne of Blood (Akira Kurosawa adaptation …http://imdb.com/title/tt0050613/) and now its time to praise it again.
Its very strange that no one mentioned the little things in the movie which just tells you lot of things like color of clothing, surroundings and stuff like that, the sun is rising, its mid night time etc.
But it is Saif and Konkona who stood firm and put everything to establish such mamoth effect. The language, the eyes and the expression.. too good to phrase.
Overall a very good moive. A grim one but that is how life is.
