Thinking of using Indian Payment Gateways for your online service? Don’t go for them, they are a big joke. Here is info about some of the payment gateways.
CCAvenue: They are considered to be the best providers in India. (There is no competition in the market) They provide online order processing via Net Banking as well as by credit card. They charge Rs. 7500 as setup fees, 7% transaction fees for Credit Card Processing and 4% transaction fees for net banking. They also charge Rs. 1200 per year as Annual Software Maintenance Cost. (lol just another way to get yearly fees) They have other plan which costs Rs. 25,000 as setup fees, 5% transaction fees for Credit Card processing and 4% for net banking. The annual fees they charge is Rs. 2400 as Software Maintenance Cost.
But note that, it is not so easy to get account with them if you are running a web development firm. My personal experience was very bad with them. I felt as if I am begging for an account.
I applied for a basic account (Rs. 7500 one). Within 4-5 days I got email saying my account got rejected because I am running a web development firm and it is owned by a single person. This one was one of the worst excuse that anyone could give. But after requesting them couple of times, they approved only net banking facility on my account. I was left without credit card processing which was my primary concern for applying the account.
Few days back I decided to ask them again to activate the credit card processing. I sent them an email and talked to their person in legal department over the phone. They took more than a week to decide and finally today she told me that if I want credit card processing on my account I will have to deposit Rs. 30,000. And they repeated the same reason about having a single ownership web development firm. They also told me that, they are asking for this amount as security deposit for chargebacks.
So in short, they are giving silly reasons despite of me signing their legal documents which says they have right to sue me if I don’t pay them chargeback money.
I am currently using 2checkout.com, they are 10 times bigger than CCAvenue and they activated my account within 1 hour after the signup. The only problem I have with them is, payment delay. It takes approximately 20 days to get the payment.
But I think applying for CCAvenue is just waste of money if you are running a proprietorship web development / hosting firm.
Transecute: This is another payment gateway service from India. (I think it is service of Directi) But like CCAvenue, they are also useless. They charge Rs. 30,000 as setup fees and 5% transaction fees. But one good part is, they do not charge any annual fees.
ABCPayments: This service is by IndiaMart, InterMesh. Their rates are almost same compared to CCAvenue. Rs. 7,000 setup fees, Rs. 2,000 per year as annual rent and 7% transaction fees. The same plan is available for Rs. 10,000 one time and no yearly fees. The other plans are Rs. 10,000 and Rs, 16,000 with annual rent as Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 6,000, transaction fees %6 and %5 respectively. They also offer net banking but it is limited to few major banks only. As of October 2009, ABC Payment has shut down their service.
Payseal ICICI: They have not provided any rate related information on their site. As far as I know, they charge Rs. 25,000 as setup fees and 5% as transaction fees. (I have emailed them for exact rates) For integration with this payment gateway, you need Tomcat installed on your server. (Or any application which can run JSP pages)
PayGateIndia: The rates mentioned on their site range from 0 setup fees to Rs. 8,000 setup fees. Their economy package costs Rs. 0 as setup fees but 8% as transaction fees and Rs. 750 per year as annual cost. Their rates are very cheap compared to other payment gateway service providers but I am not sure about credibility of this payment gateway. They seem to be reseller of ICICI Payseal. (I have emailed ICICI to confirm their validity)
Eazy2Pay: Again, like ICICI, these guys too do not have rates mentioned on their site. But after exchanging few emails, I got the details. It starts with Rs. 10,000 setup fees and 5% transaction fees. Fees is one time fees and no annual charges. Their best plan is Rs. 25,000 setup fees and 3.5% transaction fees. They have few big companies in their client list. So it holds some credibility in its bag.
Update – June 30, 2007:
Cashwala or EBS - This one is by UTI Bank. Their pricing seems to be pretty high, Rs. 11,000 one time charge, 6% transaction rate and Rs. 6000 every year as Maintenance Charge. Check more plans here
But to cut everything in short, compared to international payment gateways these guys are way too costly. Currently only few players are in market so they are charging whatever they want but once Google comes into play (I think they are currently setting up Checkout service in India, it might take longer time too), their rates are going to reduce a lot.
Currently PayPal and 2checkout are good payment gateway providers and their transaction and setup fees are also very reasonable. But the only thing they lack is, time to deposit the funds in our accounts. It takes approximately 15-20 days.
Update: Rejoice!!!! Paypal has introduced direct funds transfer to your Indian Bank Account.. The best part is, they do not charge any fees for funds more than
Rs. 7,000 (otherwise it is Rs. 50). The whole process takes 5-7 days. Thanks Venkat for the heads up.
I hope Google Checkout starts in India soon.
so what about the short term trend in online industry the domain prices shooting up server prices falling but no change in payment gateway prices ……
god help us
so why no one is talking ……..
everybody has given up or ?
frightened by slowdown ,friends it will only gonna help us small players as big boys need more fuel to move.
happy enterprising

thanks a lot for all the info,i am using 2checkout too for one of my hosting sites, they are good and paypal is the best.but i think as of now ebs.in is good because they have tie ups with lot of banks.
Hey KNB, have u investigated ccavenue.com? ebs is nothing compared to them.
I have a travel website http://www.arounddelhi.com, I spent about 6 months with ICICI payseal, they took all sorts of documents about our private limited company, asked for Rs 20,000/- set up fee, a deposit of minimum 1lac in the a/c which you can not withdraw and 2.5% transaction fee. After all this and taking the set up fee chq(though not encashing it) they tell me after umpteenth enquiry that my application has been rejected because we have a home office. I fail to understand the logic about it. If somebody wants to do some online why do they need a commercial office. Mind boggling…
Hi Deep,
Thanks a bunch for the informative post!! I’m planning to build a small ecommerce website. The products would be delivered to Indian addresses, but orders can be made from anywhere in the world. The amount would ultimately be credited to the seller’s bank account in India. I’m considering Paypal’s “website payments standard” as it is the cheapest option that I have.
I have few questions regarding Paypal payments. Could you please clarify?
Suppose a buyer from India purchases a product on my site costing 100$/5000Rs. Paypal would levy a transaction fee of 3.4% + 0.30$ which amounts to 3.70$. So, 100-3.70=96.30$ would be credited into my Paypal account at the end of the transaction. Is that all or are there any more deductions?
When I withdraw the amount, I understand that I’ll get the INR equivalent of 96.30$ on that particular day. When I transfer the amount into an Indian bank account, will there be any further service charge/education cess, etc.? If yes, how much (in %) would the additional deductions sum up to?
Finally, how much would the buyer’s credit card be charged in total? Will it just be 100$ or is there a forex factor involved as his Indian credit card is being charged in USD? Can you tell me, in %, how much is this charge?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Deep,
well, I think you actually don’t know the difference between Payment Gateway and Payment Processor. ‘Paypal’ and ’2CO’ are third party payment processor and CCAvenue and other are payment gateways.
Payment Gatways ‘DO NOT’ Process any Credit cards they are just gatways which sends credit card details securely to direct your merchant account (i.e. your merchant bank account).
LOL just google more information about ‘Payment Gateway’ and ‘Payment Processor’.
Lots of people don’t know the difference between payment gateway and processor.
regards,
Tanay.
So, Tanay, tell me, what difference is it going to make in regards to this topic?
Anyone going to lose lakhs of rupees if I have listed 2CO and Paypal here?
And what difference will “Payment Processor” and “Payment Gateway” will make to the end user?
Please nourish us with your great knowledge.
Hi Deep,
Well mate, I didn’t write that someone will lose lakhs of rupees if you listed 2CO and Paypal. I just want to tell you and other frenz that payment gateway and payment processors are different.
A payment gateway facilitates the transfer of information between a payment portal (such as a website or IVR service) and the Front End Processor or acquiring bank.
When a customer orders a product from a payment gateway enabled merchant, the payment gateway performs a variety of tasks to process the transaction:
* A customer places order on website by pressing the ‘Submit Order’ or equivalent button, or perhaps enters their card details using an automatic phone answering service.
* If the order is via a website, the customer’s web browser encrypts the information to be sent between the browser and the merchant’s webserver. This is done via SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption.
* The merchant then forwards the transaction details to their payment gateway. This is another SSL encrypted connection to the payment server hosted by the payment gateway.
* The payment gateway forwards the transaction information to the processor used by the merchant’s acquiring bank.
* The processor forwards the transaction information to the card association (i.e., Visa/MasterCard)
* If an American Express or Discover Card was used, then the processor acts as the acquiring bank and directly provides a response of approved or declined to the payment gateway.
* The card association routes the transaction to the correct card issuing bank.
* The credit card issuing bank receives the authorization request and sends a response back to the processor (via the same process as the request for authorization) with a response code. In addition to determining the fate of the payment, (i.e. approved or declined) the response code is used to define the reason why the transaction failed (such as insufficient funds, or bank link not available)
* The processor forwards the response to the payment gateway.
* The payment gateway receives the response, and forwards it on to the website (or whatever interface was used to process the payment) where it is interpreted and a relevant response then relayed back to the cardholder and the merchant.
* The entire process typically takes 2-3 seconds
* The merchant must then ship the product prior to being allowed to request to settle the transaction.
* The merchant submits all their approved authorizations, in a “batch”, to their acquiring bank for settlement.
* The acquiring bank deposits the total of the approved funds in to the merchant’s nominated account. This could be an account with the acquiring bank if the merchant does their banking with the same bank, or an account with another bank.
* The entire process from authorization to settlement to funding typically takes 3 days.
Many payment gateways also provide tools to automatically screen orders for fraud and calculate tax in real time prior to the authorization request being sent to the processor. Tools to detect fraud include geolocation, velocity pattern analysis, delivery address verification, computer finger printing technology, identity morphing detection, and basic AVS checks.
But paypal and 2CO are payment processors which process Credit Cards payments for you and then you can withdraw your funds to your bank.
Just see following lines
A] Payment Gateway :
1. Customer —> Payment Gateway —> Transfering Credit Card Details —> Merchant Account
then bank decides weather credit card details are valid or not then sends report to securely to your payment gateway and then again payment gateway shows results to your customer. This process takes less than 5 to 10 seconds to complete.
B] Payment Processor :
1. Customer —> Paypal (for example) —> Processes customer CC —> Paypal Transfer funds to your PP account —> Customer gets ordered product.
After this you withdraw your paypal funds to your bank acount.
Now mate, you have to decide which one you will choose for your website.
There is difference between transaction fees as you stated in first post.
regards,
Tanay.
Tanay, technically there might be difference but from the customer’s point of view, there is no difference logically, in terms of transaction fees, there cannot be any comparision.. as anyone of them can be higher or lower..
Many payment gateways listed above charge interest rates like 2.75% or 3.25% where as payment processors like Paypal charge 3.9%.
The point of this post is to make people aware about the options not about technicalities of payment gateway and payment processor. Hence giving details about difference won’t do anything good for the post.
Cheers,
Deep
Hey deep,
I have already told you that I just want to tell you and other that payment gateway and processors are different.
If you choose payment gateway then all funds will go directly to your bank account that paypal can’t do this. But the fees and monthly charge of such gateways are high but paypal won’t charge you any monthly or annual or any one time set up fees except transaction fees. You can accept credit cards directly on your website which looks professional but in paypal you can’t do this.
Just big difference is ‘TIME’.
I don’t want to tell you that payment gateway is better than processors or processors are better than gateways in any way.
You have to decide which method will complete your website or customer requirement and that’s all.
Some people or companies choose gateways becoz they save lots of time and some use payment processors like paypal to save money or transaction fees but they can’t save time.
The reason why did I post here just tell other people that first always know your website requirements and then think which method (i.e. gateways and processors) will fulfill all that e-commerce website requirements.
And one more thing that I don’t want to tell other frenz that you are wrong. Your review is awesome but you also have to tell other people that there is difference between gateway and processors. This will also help people to choose right method for them.
Well, keep up the good work.
regards,
Tanay.
Hey Deep, please give Tanay his candy, and ask him to stop posting stuff which, as you rightly mentioned, doesn’t matter to the end user!
Hi All,
I have been using DirecPay.com, the PG from the IndiaTimes group and I suspect all my customers are getting emails from the Indiatimes site with their gifting and other offers. This is not fair. We have received Indiatimes shopping emails, their TimesJobs email offers and their simplymarry offers on my test email ids I had used when i was integrating their PG. I am investigating and will let all of you know, when I am 100% sure.
Swati
So, it has been a long and interesting debate. We are going to launch a travel portal, which gateway would be best to use?
Good news guys…. google checkout will be available for Indian sellers by mid 2009… somebody from google hyderabad who is working on this project gave me this information.
Awesome Avinash.. if that’s the true then, all these current payment gateway guys are gonna have tough time for sure
That would be great….both Paypal and Google Checkout coming into india in 2009. I wonder how these global giants will compete with our Indian PG giant CCAvenue.com. It will be good David V/s Gloiaths all out war and it will be the Indian Merchants who will be the ultimate winner!
Hi deep,
I guess you need to light up your brain deep, Indian paymentgateway industry is only supporting e-merchants in india and are consistently improving their standards of services, it is very easy to raise fingers but very difficult to prove and i guess to my understanding payment card industry have proved their credentials so let us all support the industry rather then creating unecessay rumors. And also i was going through all the replies posted i realised all the indian company providing payment gateway services have some or the other problems so deep the e-payment guru do suggest me a payment gateway or else i will give a gud idea for free start up your own payment gateway and help these people who take the pain in writing these complaints to mr.deep the teacher.
So Abhijeet, did it pinch too hard? haha.. I guess, you might be working in one of those bashed payment gateways.. haha
——————–
——————–
I guess, it’s time for you to light up your eyeballs and find me the statement where I have mentioned that Indian Payment Gateways support Non indian merchants?
They might be improving their standards but along with that, they are improving their rates too… Rs. 40,000 as non refundable deposit, what for? What’s so special about them? haha
Let Google Checkout arrive and then see the effect on these guys.. basically this period is like the starting period of mobile phones, people used to pay Rs. 16 per minute for the phone calls, once more people started entering the market, the rates reduced drastically….
——————–
——————–
No point in spreading rumors, whatever is mentioned in my post is backed by the proof. I cannot guarantee anything about the comments which are made, but if you feel those are rumors, prove it that they are baseless, I will take off those comments.
——————–
——————–
Haha, now I got to know where the smoke is coming out from.. LOL
Problems are going to be with any payment gateway but the best part is, when the payment gateway understand what problem people are facing and they fix the issues, rather than getting one of their employees post a reply with baseless comments.. hahah
Cheers,
Deep
Hi…
First of all, thanks deep for starting this discussion.. n thnx all for posting your reviews…
I am a matrimony service provider… I am currently using ICICI and CCAvenue Gateways.
They have their own Pros and Cons.
ICICI – They only accept VISA. They do have an option for MasterCard. When i contacted the guys, initially they created hell lot off problems. Finally they agreed to provide MasterCard Access. But additional Rs. 10000/- for that. phew….
And yes… their Transaction Success Rate is very low… I get complaints daily that the page stopped responding after they submitted the Credit Card Details…
CCAvenue – Initially they were gud…
n then they started imposing restrictions….
Initially, they blocked Credit Card Transactions for verification Purposes. And mark them as High Fraud Alert. – Fine. You cancel the transaction or get the documents from the Client. If you cancel, no TDR Charges for tht transaction.
Now they have added the same restriction on Net Banking Part as well…. What the hell… And moreover… if they mark it as High Fraud Alert, and i want to cancel it, they still charge the TDR Charges on that transaction… So i loose money this way or that in Net Banking.
Now i am planning to Add DirecPay to my site as well… The initial review is decent. They have gud processing system but being a new company, their Reporting system is not at all gud… so u need to have ur own reporting part as well..
Charges are also very reasonable… 10K as initial deposit and 3.5% TDR…. Far better than Others currently in the Market…
But i don’t have read/heard many reviews about DirecPay, So i am deferring the plan to integrate it as of now. Will wait for moew reviews and then decide.
Thanks
Abhisek
Hi Deep, It was quite interesting to learn about payment gateways etc over here. Hey.. we are planning to have a payment gateway integration and are out looking for the right provider. From the integration point of view can you or others tell me what is the effort involved. How simple is it to integrate with CCAvenue or Citibank payment gateways? Is it a very technical task?
Thanks
Himanshu
Hi,
Thanks for hosting this discussion and consolidating a variety of opinions. I was debating between CCAve(for reliability), TimesofMoney(for lowest setup costs) and EBS(reliability and low rates) and have almost finalized on using EBS for our startup’ website which sells automotive accessories. They had courteous sales people (surprisingly sales people of some companies think they are sitting on gold mines). Here are rates of CCAve, ABCPayments, Paysignnet, TimesofMoney and EBS; some of the gateways I had considered seriously.
Product |Rate |servc.tax|netRate|SetupFee|Extra|AnnualMaintnce.
CC Avenue Eco 7.00% 10.30% 7.72% 7,500 0 1,200
CC Ave privilege3.75% 10.30% 4.14% 40,000 0 3,600
ABC paymts eco 7.72% 10.30% 8.52% 10,000 0 0
ABC paymts mid 6.618% 10.30% 7.30% 16,000 0 0
ABC paymts Gold 5.515% 10.30% 6.08% 28,000 0 0
Paysignet Eco 5.000% 10.30% 5.52% 3,000 3,000 1,500
Paysignet Mid 4.000% 10.30% 4.41% 10,000 10,000 2,500
Paysignet Platm 2.750% 10.30% 3.03% 25,000 25,000 5,000
TimesOfMoney Eco6.000% 10.30% 6.62% 7,500 0 2,400
TimesOfMoney Mid4.500% 10.30% 4.96% 15,000 0 2,400
TimesOfMoneyPlat3.500% 10.30% 3.86% 25,000 0 2,400
EBS starter 6.000% 10.30% 6.62% 6,000 0 2,400
EBS regular 5.000% 10.30% 5.52% 12,000 0 2,400
EBS mid 4.000% 10.30% 4.41% 18,000 0 2,400
EBS Gold 3.750% 10.30% 4.14% 24,000 0 2,400
EBS Platinnum 3.250% 10.30% 3.58% 30,000 0 2,400
There have been enough warning flags about Paysignnet so that is out of the selection. I am going ahead with EBS after considering their low rates, good customer sales service, hopefully good brand reliability, ability to link with any merchant bank account and merchant name on bill feature. They have a demo installer kit at http://www.ebssupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view but am not sure how easily integrable it is; they claim it takes 1 hour to integrate?? I wish they had some easy copy paste HTML code like paypal buttons which I can use. I am yet to find out about the actual service quality, time of document processing and new/unknown issues.
I am going to go ahead with this soon so please let me know if I need to be warned about EBS. Will keep you updated. Thanks
Milind
Mr.Milind,
This is Susan Pereira Assistance Manager CCAvenue. I read your suggestion on deep ka blog. Just would like to bring to your notice that CCAvenue is the pioneer in payment gateway services in India and we stand powering 90% of the Indian merchant. Today we offer 5 Major Internation credit cards which include Amex and JCB, 12 Debit cards, 24 Net banking options, Cash cards, Mobile payments option and we are constantly adding new payment options. We have recently launched our IVRS Payment Gateway i.e. CCAvenue PhonePay, which enables merchants to accept payments through a simple phone call.
We offer free risk management services which are the best in South Asia which helps in saving crores of rupees of merchants. For any e-commerce company, the matter of concern is how safe is the transaction? But to put it in other word how to be safe from fraud transaction? Here is the answer for the question. We at CCAvenue take lot of efforts to stop the fraud transaction. For this we have a dedicated risk management team which scrutinizes each and every transaction that is been conducted on merchant’s website through CCAvenue .We also provide Shopping Cart to Merchants who don’t have their shopping cart and you will be surprised to know that we provide this feature for free. We also have 24×6 Tech support incase a Merchant/Customers have any query, which can be resolved through online-chat or by phone. Please make a note of the above listed features are just a few among the various host of features which come along with CCAvenue.
However, please have a look at the overall benefits which can be availed through CCAvenue as compared to EBS. By paying marginally extra you will get better services with high security standards. Kindly compare all the above mentioned factors before taking your vital business decision. Moreover I request you to compare apples to apples rather then apples to lemons.

Hello Dear Deep,
Thanks for this blog and all posts.
I have some questions.
1. I am gonna start a website where I will be selling cloths. I think EBS will be the better option for me. But they don’t accept SBI debit card. But I think most of the customers will be happy to pay with their sbi cards. So How should I go about it.
2. Do SBI have their own payment gateway. If yes then can you give me the all information about it.Cost on it and how can I get it.
3. How much time it takes to get money from ccaveue and ebs both.
I need a payment gateway for my website.?
Please tell me which payment gateway will be the best for me.
So that I can get payments within 24 – 48 hours.
They must proceed debit card of banks like SBI, axis etc.
Please provide me sufficient information.
Please no ccavenue because they are too late in payments.
How about Sbi payment gateway. How can I get it for my website. Please Sir I really need the info on it.
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I added PayPal IPN contribution for an oscommerce store. This is for an Indian store so the users/clients will be shown prices in INR (Rupee). Please help me as I did not find any option to set it to INR or converting it from INR to US$ just for payment. I’m really stuck at it. Please help.
Thanks and Regards
Hi Rakesh,
Can you clarify? What do you mean “Please no ccavenue because they are too late in payments”. Frankly CCAvenue is easily the best PG around. If you are expecting huge payouts, CCAvenue does have T +2 settlements. I have absolutely no issues for last four years..
Hi,
I think a blog is an independant and an impartial forum where people have a right to express their opinions. Either EBS, Direcpay, ICICI or any provider, each has its own views and we respect their views and opinions. I dont think any comment should be taken so personally to market the product. It should be taken in the true spirit for improvisation. We all need to understand the market scenario and the banking/card association regulations which restricts the service provider to some extent
Also for information EBS does process SBI debit cards with 18 other payment options with another 8 being added very soon. Though we do not categorize ourselves as apples or lemons, we focus in giving the best of services and catering to client needs helping them to transact smoothly & safely.
Please feel free for any information or clarification further at sales@ebs.in

Hi all,
very interesting and informative blog for all entrepreneurs who intend to start their E-Commerce website.
I have been sitting on an e-commerce website and been trying to integrate a payment gateway and I land up in the same situation as Deep has landed up in and for the same reason he has started this blog.
Indian payment gateways are the biggest joke in this world, and I agree with him completely..
CC Avenue tops it all as rightly said by Deep, the customer service assistants are very rude and nips off the entrepreneurs interests at the budding stage itself dismissing it with a ‘You are all below our standards’ kind dealing.
And another thing that I would like to clarify with all payment gateway servuce providers in India, is that what is the requirement for charging this hefty TDR and super hefty set up fees like CC avenue. Internet shopping’s main purpose is to reach products and services to users at cheaper rates as there are no fixed costs involved in running it, like that of a retail store. CC avenue and the kinds by charging the hefty TDR is not helping the purpose at all as the TDR also gets added on to the end price that the hapless indian ecommerce users pay to acquire the product.
And moreover whats the point if they intend to take on board only companies which have a strong history of operations and bank account balances since most innovative ECommerce websites are normally floated by the founders themselves who struggles as it is to register a company even through it could be sole proprietor ships.
The payment gateways in India can be rightfully said to be nipping off the innovative ideas of Indian entrepreneurs rite at the budding stage with their rejection of proposals of entrepreneurs and with their super expensive set up charges and TDR charges..
Jai ho..
Hi Jiby,
Saw your post and it looks like our Acquiring bank and our Risk Management team rejected your application. Anyways, please do email us again your website application details at contact@ccavenue.com and we will try to our level best to get it approved. I am copy/pasting an earlier post that might answer some of your complaints:-

Hi All,
I am Asst Manager-Marketing at CCAvenue. The reason IT companies, Domain name registrars, web hosting service providers find it difficult to get their applications of merchant accounts approved is because a lot of frauds have been happening at these kind of sites. There are cases of cardholder frauds and in some cases of merchant frauds. Some web development companies like http://www.technolozy.com (Kaushik Rajani / Deepak Mehta of Delhi) have cheated banks and our company of crores of rupees by perprating a systematic fraud with a help of their friends from India, estonia etc.. It is just not them alone but a lot of other IT providers from the industry has also done the same over the years. Therefore card companies have slotted IT services as a high risk category and are generally slotted along with other high risk category merchants like online gambling / pornography etc.. Since IT companies products / services are delivered online, hence it makes it easy for the fraudster who has access to stolen card numbers to perpetrate fraud on IT companies. In business, nobody wants to throw away oppurtunies of processing more and nore transactions of merchants but nobody wants to take on high risk merchants as it damages their reputation as well are fined heavely by card companies for excessive chargebacks. We, at CCAvenue, however do not carry that view and look at every application with a clear honest view. Today if you see, we have more eight hundred IT companies in India,Singapore and China whom we provide our payment processing services too. There are nearly four hundred web development companies situated in 78 cities and towns accross india, who resells our services. For small Individual or sole propriter s who start with selling webhosting / domain name packages, we do start them out with netbanking / cash cards/ debit cards and after some time, when they have won the trust of our Risk team, we do allow the credit card options. Today, we power over 90% of India’s websites.
Also, we do provide motto facilities (i.e. card numbers taken on the merchant site instead of redirecting to CCAvenue) provided the merchants systems are PCI Compliant, and they have their dedicated servers with a 256 Verisign Global server Id (This is mandated by Credit card companies).
Today we offer 6 credit cards, 8 Debit cards, 26 Net banking options, ITZ cash card, Paymate mobile payments processing and we are constantly adding new payment options. We give free risk management services which are the best in South Asia which saves crores of rupees of our merchants. Our merchants dont have to pay any chargeback fees ( $ 10 for every chargeback transaction with all foreign gateways like paypal etc). Our merchants dont need to have dedicated servers or invest in verisign cert ( about usd 500 annually) or be PCI compliant ( about USD 11,000 per year) and dont have to pay any money for money transfers or for our 24 by 7 merchant support. Our best plan starts at a 3.75% charges with no flat fee (for eg 0.30 cents per transaction that paypal charges i.e. INR 13/- per transaction, over and above their percentage charges). We agree that there is a steep one time setup fee for the credit card merchant account abd the ccavenue account but that money is required by us to comply with the card company rules, tie-up with newer banks and give fanatical support to our merchants and their customers. We can assure all of you that no payment gateway in the world delivers that many payment options and give value as we do. We are proud that we help over 90% of India’s merchants reach their online business goals by providing our tension free payment processing services.
Please dont treat the above as a marketing pitch, but its a true statement of what (125+ Avenuities) are trying to achieve here at Avenues.
Warm Regards,
Susan (contact@ccavenue.com)

Hi Jiby,
One more clarification rather information…regarding Deep, CCAvenue is powering his website http://www.web1.in and he has all the possible credit cards / debit cards / cash card / netbanking / mobile payment options available on his website via CCAvenue. His is a sole proprietor business and is into IT business. Infact we are also powering the websites of all his major clients like Monginis etc. If someone proves that they are genuine person doing authentic genuine business, we have no problem in processing their transactions. We have to be really careful as Internet is a world without boundaries and there are lot of fraudsters, swindlers, fly by night operators who can really strike and damage our company and cause us a great financial loss. When we ask for some credentials from our merchants, it is just identify genuine new entrepreneurs and keep the fraudsters at at bay. We never look at a prospective merchants bank balance or how much properties he has. We look at the genuineness of the documents supplied and his business model. We at CCAvenue have taken great risk by processing transactions of thousands of small entrepreneurs, when the Indian banks were not ready to take them on. Therefore today more than 90% of india’s merchants choose us to process their payments….right from a small time mushroom seller called Lakshman Bhakta in a village called Manjeshwar in Kerela to the BIGGEST websites like MakeMyTrip etc, all have reposed their trust in CCAvenue.
In any case, do email me your website application, so that we can see what best can be done.
Best Regards,
Susan

Recently i went to a web design company in delhi to get my website redesigned
i was surprised to find (Kaushik Rajani / Deepak Mehta of Delhi) renamed their company Technolozy.com to the http://www.thewebexperts.net and still doing business openly even after dumping your company and banks crores of rupees.

Hi All,
I am Asst Manager-Marketing at CCAvenue.
Swati, try this to see if your email is being abused…
1. Create an account with gmail (eg: testspam@gmail.com)
2. while giving this account to anyone, use testspam+companyname@gmail.com
The cool thing about gmail is that anything after the “+” symbol is automatically ignored, and the email will actually land up in the original email account, in this case testspam@gmail.com
3. now, if you start getting spam to this account with a To: address of testspam+companyname@gmail.com, you know who is spamming you. Also, this makes it super easy to create a spam filter
4. I’ve used this technique many times with great success, when I dont know if a particular company can be trusted.
Please do confirm if indiatimes/direcpay is indeed spamming you/your customers so that others can avoid dealing with them. I know for sure they spam their email accounts a lot, so I would’nt be surprised if they are spamming other customers as well. My decision on partnering with them will largely be influenced by your response, so kindly to respond
-potential direcpay customer
Hay..
Thanks for the info.
Hello Friends,

I came across this chain of interactions when I did a search on Indian Payment Gateways…..I’m searching for a solution for a website I’m setting up. Has anyone dealt with http://www.direcpay.com. It is from TimesofMoney the same company that runs Remit2India a successful online money transfer service. Any idea about how much do they charge for a payment gateway set-up.
It would be interesting to know how do they deal with their customers, please share your feedback if anyone has dealt with htem.
Hello All,
A very informative piece of article I must say. Great read for people who are thinking about integrating a PG on their websites. Speaking of which I am on the lookout for a decently priced PG myself, the first such PG i approached was HDFC Bank as my other loyalties lie with them and this is what they told me:
AMC – Rs 10,000
1 Time Setup Fee – Rs 10,000
Charge per Transaction – 2.25 Percent.
The person i spoke to said the transaction charges and the AMC charges will be reconsidered after 6 months depending on the turnover. After reading thru this blog and considering other options, I found this to be the best.
What do y’all have to say? Is there a better service out there? Should I keep looking or this is good enough to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance – Prashant.
Great stuff for people who are new and searching for online payment options for there site….
Thanks lot..
Without this i would have to surf more than month to gather such a needuful information…
@ Prashanth,
This is the best deal s far as I understand. Please send me the details of the contact person in HDFC Bank. I need it for my new travel portal.

When I click ‘Buy Now’ button of PayPal for accepting credit card payment, it takes me to a page where it asks for paying through PayPal account and at the bottom there is a small link for paying through credit card. Can I directly take customers to Credit Card payment page after clicking ‘Buy Now’ button. If yes, can someone help as how? And if no, it becomes very confusing for indian customers.
Kumar, the answer is Yes and No
Yes because, paypal has what they call “website payments pro” that allow you to do the complete transactions on your own website without going to paypal web site. you will need an SSL certificate on your web site to use this feature.
No because, this os available only in the US.
Hi Guy,
this is a very informative post and comments.
I am considering using paypal for my maiden online venture.
Is there a problem with paypal accepting indian credit cards after the RBI guidelines on August 1 requiring Indian card-holders to register their cards with their banks before using them online????
I would really appreciate an answer to this.
Thank you
Abhishek
Hi Abhishek,
I do not think that the RBI regulation will bring any problem with Paypal.
Because for all those banks that do not participate in the VBV or MSC protocol, it does not make a difference which card you are using, unless of course the payment gateway itself has some rules regarding international cards..
The RBI regulation will make a difference only when the payment gateway is provided by an INDIAN BANK, that is, only when the TRANSACTING BANK is an Indian bank.
And for all those people who think that our Indian cards can no longer be used on international sites, thats just BS, cause i made a few purchases on Amazon, Puritans Pride, Zzounds and some other sites AFTER the RBI regulation from August 01, 2009.
By the way, has anyone found out about futurebazaar.com’s payment gateway?
Regards,
Amod Oke

Hi FutureBazaar is using two of India’s best gateway. They are using CITIbanks Motto gateway (i.e. taking CCnumbers on their own website) and CCAvenue for all the other 30+ payment options.
Hi Aditya,
Thanks for the info, but can you throw some light on Citibank’s Motto gateway?? That is, their requirements, cost, etc.
