Bad bad bad coding… I am talking about the code of this current theme. As mentioned earlier, I had got it done from a friend just to save my work and time. But I guess, I will have to recode it.

Lots of conditional CSS, usage of deprecated template tags, unnecessary PHP conditions, no seperate pages for templates like page, archive, single, search form, 404 error pages and lot more minor things. The code looks like, lot of fixes have been applied to finish the things quickly. Aaah, I somehow hate the ugly code.

For the time being, I cleaned up lot of mess but I think recoding will make the whole thing perfect. There are some bugs in the comments area too. (Check in IE)

Okay guys, time to sleep now, it is 7.20 AM already, working on it for past 3 hours.

How do you feel when you buy a brand new car and it just starts making noise on the half way? I felt the same after watching Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. No doubt it was a good movie but there is no fun in driving a broken car. You got the point right? No? You will have to read few more paragraphs to find out.

Okay, to cut the things short, it is about 6 couple going on a honeymoon to Goa by the same bus.

The couples include:

Hitesh (Ranvir Shorey) and Shilpa (Dia Mirza), Shilpa got married to Hitesh just to run away with her boyfriend Jignesh (Arjun Rampal). In other words, she was forcibly got married to Hitesh.

Oscar (Boman Irani) and Nahid (Shabana Azmi), not one of the young pairs but very young at heart. I really liked the dialogue when Shabana Azmi said something like “Baal kaale nahi rahe to kya hua, dil abhi bhi kaala hai” The line was taken from one of the Dilp Kumar’s movie but it suits perfectly for this couple. Both got married in their old age, just to support each other.

Partho (Kay Kay Menon) and Milly (Raima Sen), both deeply in love with each other but Partho is bit reserved and Milly is more of extrovert kind of a person.

Aspi (Abhay Deol) and Zara (Minissha Lamba), the best of all. Very cute couple I must say. Both are together since their childhood.

Pinky (Amisha Patel) and Vicky (Karan Khanna), both love each other. Pinky is more like a filmy girl, talks a lot, dreams a lot but on the other hand, Vicky is kind of a quiet guy. Vicky is more interested in guys than Girls.

Bunty (Vikram Chatwal) and Madhu (Sandhya Mridul), they find each other on the Internet. Madhu gets married to Bunty just to get over her past. But her married life becomes a big question mark when Bunty tells her that, he is a Gay.

Everything goes well in the first half, infact first half was simply superb, hilarious. But like I said earlier, the car starts making noise in the half way. The director looses the track in between. You feel really bad when you see a very well crafted track of Aspi and Zara turning into some stupid super power saga. One more bad track was of, Hitesh and Shilpa. Ranvir Shorey is totally wasted. He is such a great actor, he was going on pretty well in the beginning too but suddenly he just disappeared. Another bad part of the movie was, making serious scenes look funny. The best example would include adding funny track while showing the bad past of Madhu. The girl is sad because of the breakup and the narrator is busy in finding some funny track suitable for her situation. It just does not fit well, serious scenes are meant to be serious.

Okay, enough of bashing but there are many good points too. Let’s talk about it then Boman Irani and Shabana Azmi were just rocking. They had the best dialogues in their bag. The best one would be, when Boman Irani narrates his imaginary love story to a foreigner. It was supposed to be a funny scene but it left a very strong message in the end. Very touching scene it was. Abhay Deol and Minissha Lamba takes the 2nd place. I must say, very cute couple. Their dance sequence was just superb. Abhay Deol is just like the guy next door, very natural acting. Kay Kay Menon and Raima Sen takes 3rd place. The parachute scene was just hilarious, amazing piece of work. 2nd best moment was, the song ‘Sajnaji Vari Vari’.

Okay, let’s sum it up.

Music: It was fine, nothing great but couple of songs were very good. Specially ‘Sajnaji Vari Vari’.

Acting: Undoubtedly Boman Irani and Shabana Azmi were the best. Yo will find a totally new Boman Irani in each and every movie. Great actor. Hats off. Abhay Deol - very natural acting. Minissha Lamba - Cutie pie. Kay Kay Menon - Another great actor. A very different role compared to his previous films. Raima Sen - good, very seducing in few scenes. It won’t take time to get lost in her eyes. Amisha Patel, Vikram Chatwal, Sandhya Mridul were fine. Karan Khanna needs some acting lessons. Ranvir Shorey, Dia Mirza and Arjun Rampal - totally wasted. But I really liked the way Ranvir calls Dia..typical Gujju accent, Silpa haha.

The movie gets 3 stars out of 5.

Predicto Meter: Should do good business in multiplexes. Less chances of it doing good in small towns and single screens.

That’s the name of Munnabhai part 3. The first trailer is out in theatres. It is shown in the begning of the movie, Eklavya. (Along with the trailer of Indian Lord of the rings - Talisman)

The trailer gave me a real good laugh, I am sure the movie will be much more funnier than the trailer.

IndiaFM.com guys managed to get the dialogues on the net.

The third installment from the Munnabhai and Circuit series, in this episode both Munna and Circuit are preparing to go to America. The trailer opens showing both Munnabhai (Sanjay Dutt) and Circuit (Arshad Warsi) in their trademark tapoori outfits of an orange shirt and a black kurta respectively. Both are reading a book ‘How to learn English in 30 days’. With their dreams to go America, learning English obviously becomes an important requisite for them. So both the characters are struggling to learn the Queen’s language thus creating a lot of confusion with their ‘desi’ dialect.

Just for instance check a few of their Hindi lines translated into English

How will they give their address?
In Hindi: Dhobhi ghat
In English: Wash-ington

How will they express their happiness?
In Hindi: Khushi ke maare mera seena phul gaya
In English: Out of happiness my chest turned into breast

Tapori slang
In Hindi: hawa aan de
In English: Let the air force come in

Bambaiya language
In Hindi: khopche main leke deo kya kharcha paani
In English: I will take you out for date and pay for it

There are a few more of their hilarious one-liners that just make you wonder what will actually happen when they reach America. The trailer however is only restricted till their homework in India and doesn’t delve into foreign shores. In terms of its format it very much reminds of the first teaser of Lagey Raho Munnabhai that showed Munna and Circuit talking about Mahatma Gandhi.

I will update this post if I find the trailer online.

Update:

Here is the trailer:

Beautiful! That would be the first thing coming out of my mouth if you would have asked me about the cinematography. It was different, would been the answer for the question about the movie. But if you would have asked me about the story, you would never got any answer from me. Reason? Because it is just so difficult to narrate the story. I have no idea how I am going to manage this review too.

Okay, I should stop confusing everyone now.

The movie is about loyalty of Eklavya (Amitabh Bachchan) whose job is to protect King – Raja – Rana Jaywardhan (Boman Irani) and his family. Prince Harshwardhan (Saif Ali Khan) arrives from London after hearing about sad demise of her mother, queen – Rani – of Devigarh, Suhasinidevi (Shamila Tagore). But after reaching Devigarh, het gets to know the truth which was kept hidden from him since his childhood.

The story takes a big turn when Harshwardhan gets to know the reason for his mother’s death. Rest is to watch.

I think I should talk more about praising performances and visuals of the movie. Let me start with performances. Amitabh Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan… no one can beat him. I may be biased towards him because I am a big fan of Mr. Bachchan but he was truly superb in the movie. There was some kind of power in his voice, in his action… just everything. 2nd impressive actor was Saif Ali Khan. He fits perfectly into the role of a prince of a royal family. I think being from a royal family must have helped him a lot here. Just perfect!

Another important aspect of the film was: the cinematography. The visuals were just great. I was like “wow when I saw the visuals of the palace. Very beautiful I must say.

Let’s talk about some action now, some great scenes. My best favorite part was when Eklavya shows his skills to inspector Pannalal Chohaar (Sanjay Dutt), it might be kind of unreal but it was impressive. 2nd best scene would be the scene which was just before the interval. (I can’t reveal it as it will be kind of spoiler)

Okay, all good things about the movie, let’s take a look at the bad ones.

If I had to rate the movie keeping the public aside, then I would have definitely wrote about all the good things because from critic’s point of view, the movie was just fantastic. But now if I take a look at the movie from the point of view of normal public – aam janta - I would have yawned in few scenes and would have asked the director to move the story in a quicker manner.

I actually heard few people in the interval discussing about slow pace of the movie. But for me it was just perfect but the general public wants much more than “a good cinema. They need some glamour, some comedy and some naach gaana.

Let me just sum up the stuff.

Acting: As mentioned earlier Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan were most impressive. Later comes Boman Irani, Jimmy Shergil and Jackie Shroff. Vidya Balan had nothing much to do but she was good. Same applies for Raima Sen and Sanjay Dutt.

Music: Only one song, Chanda re Chanda re. Very good song, I really liked it.

Overall, the movie was brilliant price of direction, performance and a great visual treat. But sadly it is not meant for masses.

I would give this movie 3 / 5 from the point of view of public. But my personal rating would be 4 / 5.

Predicto Meter: It should do well in multiplexes but there are less chances of it doing well in single screen theatres.

Okay, that’s my new super cool theme asking you ;) I had got this theme designed quite sometime back but I was not getting time to work on it, so finally I gave up and asked one of my friends to code it for me.

And here we have a beta theme ready :)

There are few bugs here and there with the theme, there will be few usability changes too. I am going to fix all of them in sometime. I would like all of you to test the theme too.

Currently known bugs are:

  • Home page collapsible image does not change when the state is changed
  • All the windows are expanded by default where as only 1st should be expanded and rest should be collapsed
  • Need link to Home on the top (along with the page names)
  • Font size issue in Firefox 2.x with the Post meta text

If you guys come across more bugs, do let me know.

One more thing, I have changed the host too. I moved to MediaTemple (GS series) because it allows me to eat more server resources ;)
