When it comes to Abusing, we are always on top. Be it abusing people, be it abusing freedom (moral policing, censorship) and now we have abusing of English.

Not to confuse much, I am talking about those bunch of idiots who abuse English just for the sake of numerology.

I know this has been happening for quite sometime but now a days, I see each and every movie name or television serial name abused.

Some of the funny names are as below:

Current Spelling - Correct Spelling

Kayamath - Kayamat

Kasautii Zindagii Kay - Kasauti Zindagi Ki

Zindaggi Rocks - Zindagi Rocks

Kaajjal - Kajal

Mainly these things are abused by K team and everyone follows them blindly. I have no idea how their success depend upon the numbers? They need to show something which will make people sit in front of the screen.

Damn, why there is no censor board on abusing of English?

Okay, now this one is bit of techie stuff and might go over the head for many readers.

For last few days I have been playing around with Subversion (SVN) for project version management. (It is a version control system basically).

I use Tortoise SVN to control the SVN from my machine (Update / commit etc..) but it was kind of cumbersome to update the folders every time. So, after using powers of Google, I finally found a Dreamweaver extension which lets me update / commit files directly from Dreamweaver. No need to go to that folder and update the stuff. Just right click on the folder in Dreamweaver and update it.

You can get this extension from here.

Technically, it works along with Tortoise SVN and provides SVN options in Dreamweaver. It is free, works well for me and I am happy in the end :)

When I had watched this movie some 2 years back, I used to think “why the hell this movie was banned? and now when I watched it today, I asked myself the same question. I still do not know what was so bad in the movie which made our authorities to put ban on it.

Anyways, let me move directly to the point.

The movie is about bomb blast carried by Dawood Ibrahim / Tiger Memon in March 1993. The movie throws light on, how the blasts were planned and how police arrested 189 people. But while narrating the whole thing they somehow slowed down for no reason and movie became kind of monotonous for few minutes. Specially some of the scenes at the ending of 1st half and beginning of the 2nd half could have chopped down by few minutes. But apart from this, the movie was “A grade movie.

What I liked most in the movie was, the way they have shown effect of blast on everyone, be it police (the frustration they had because of the work pressure), be it blast accused people (the frustration they had because of feeling of insecurity) or be it parents or relatives of accused (the fear they had on their face because they did not know what their son / brother is getting into).

The other best thing in the movie was: the homework. Very detailed research done and they have covered every minute detail related to blast. Everything from how the RDX was smuggled to how things were planned for the blasts.

Okay, time to sum up the things.

On the acting front, Kay Kay Menon (Police Inspector - Rakesh Maria) was impressive, 2nd character I liked most was of Pavan Malhotra (Tiger Memon). There was Dawood Ibrahim lookalike too (Vijay Maurya) but he did not have much to do. (There was no need to explore his character too)

On the music front, when there is Indian Ocean, there will always be freshness in the music. The music was fresh when I had purchased the CD (some 2 years back) and even now, it just makes you sing along with them. A very different kind of music which may not be liked by everyone. In short, Pure and fresh music.

On the story front, like I said earlier, things were going pretty well overall but I somehow felt, the movie needed a better editor.

So overall, I would rate this movie 3.5 stars out of 5. “A grade movie, I really wanted to give it 4 stars but the slow pace in some areas did not allow me to. But it is a “must watch movie. Do not wait for DVD to arrive, watch it in the theatre.

Predicto Meter: The movie should do fair amount of business, word of mouth publicity will help the movie a lot.

I would like to thank Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) for their tremendous efforts in increasing the load shedding time from 2 and half hours to 3 and half hours.

I really can’t express how much happy I am.

My sincere request to MSEB would be to increase the load shedding times to 12 hours in a day so that we cannot work at all. Or may be they can try out disconnecting power supply once in a week for the whole day. This way they will save lot of electricity and we will also get a very nice experience of living in some alien place.

Thanking You

Deep Ganatra

When it is Madhur Bhandarkar film, there is 100% guarantee of watching some shocking realities. Be it Chandani Bar or Page 3 or even Corporate. Traffic Signal has continued the trend but it lagged in between and things started becoming difficult to handle.

The movie is story of beggars, newspaper vendors, in fact each and every person who is seen at our traffic signals. It gives insight about their working… how things are planned so that they earn more money from their booth (signal) and also how they are related underworld.

Silsila (Kunal Khemu) is manager of the gang working at one of the traffic signals in Mumbai. The team includes everyone form newspaper vendors to the beggars. Silsila arranges work places and provides protection to them and in return he gets part of their income. (It is known as Hafta in Hindi) But because of one mistake of Silsila, the whole traffic signal business gets shut down. What was that mistake? You will have to watch movie to find it out.

The credit of the movie mainly goes to Kunal Khemu as he was the central character of the movie, whole movie revolves around him. I must say, this guy has improved a lot compared to his earlier film. And for a change, he looks matured person here haha. You will be shocked when you will find the workings of everyone at traffic signal, how things are planned and how everyone from local politicians to bhais in Dubai is linked. But I guess that was not enough for the movie. Apart from showing shocking and interesting facts the movie lagged a lot in many parts. It was mainly because of the 3 un-invited songs and some unnecessary scenes. The first half looked much more interesting than the 2nd half. In the 2nd half, I just felt like leaving the theatre as things were not moving, it was just same thing all the time.

The movie would have surely done well if they would have made it bit shorter, say approximately 1.30 hours.

Let me sum up the things:

Story: Very different and real story but the movie needed a good editor. Ending was very disappointing.

Music: Bad!!!

Acting: Kunal Khemu shines like a gem in the movie. Other actors had very limited roles as there were many characters involved in the movie. It was good to see Ranvir Shorey in non-comic role, he was impressive like always. I would love to see Neetu Chandra in glamorous role (though she had a forgettable role in the movie Garam Masala), she did her role well.

So overall, I would give this movie 2 stars out of 5. I would suggest spending bucks on Rocky Balboa (which is exceptionally good) than watching Traffic Signal.

Predictor Meter: I do not see any chances of this movie reaching the HIT mark. It might be difficult to recover the cots too.
