Is Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag ne mere armaano ko jala ke raakh kar diya… What a movie.. what a PATHETIC movie…. A real bad attempt to remake Sholay…

The story is exactly same as Sholay. 2 best friends, helping some retired police inspector (in Sholay, it was Thakur) to kill the don. Some love affairs in between, few songs, some action scenes and Ofcourse rona dhona.

I am really sorry, I won’t be able to tell more about the story because I am just gonna start bashing the starcast now..

Ajay Devgan, who plays the role of Heero and Prashant Raj plays his best buddy, Raj. They tried their best to show people some kind of best buddy relationship on the screen but it was mere, cut.. next scene.. cut.. next scene kind of thing.. it looked as if they are just playing their parts..nothing else..

Mohanlal plays the role of inspector Narsimha.. he was pretty good but people might not like him due to his south Indian accent, but personally, I loved him…

Ghungroo played by Nisha Kothari. This character was corresponding to Basanti’s character in Sholay. Here, Ghungroo is a rickshaw driver.. who eventually falls in love with Heero and yea, also dances on songs in super short half pants.. But, she did not know that she was supposed to act too.. again, the chemistry between her and Heero was next to nothing. They both are just going around in opposite direction and they thought they are doing pretty good..

Durga Devi played by Sushmita Sen, to be frank, she had nothing much to do in the movie. All I could see was pretty much blank face.. but yea, she was the right choice for this character.

Sushant Singh plays Tambe, aka Samba from Sholay. He was pretty good in his role but, I personally think it was kind of injustice to this actor. He is such a nice actor (The Legend of Bhagat Singh) and this kind of side kick roles just does not give any option to explore his brilliant acting skills. He could have easily played character of Raj.

And finally, the mammoth, Amitabh Bachchan as Babban aka Gabbar Singh of Sholay… played superbly..  and impressive.. ruthless character…

Rest of the characters were wasted royally, Rajpal Yadav tops the list.. 2nd one takes Gaurav Kapoor as Ahemad… Sachin was one more waste.. and lastly  Veerendra Saxena, who plays father of Ahemad.. he had a strong scene (towards the end) and pretty much small role but… it was good compared to others…

Now, let’s talk about other things..

Direction… haha ha.. Ram Gopal Varma.. I still cannot believe, he was the one who directed movies like Sarkar and Rangeela.. what’s wrong with him? Why did he decide to make such a big mistake? Overall, direction was pretty much bad but it was good in few areas.. for example.. portrayal of Babban’s character was very strong.. but for rest.. it was kind of low class..

The Editing was bad too.. in many scenes I found that, the scenes were cut abruptly.. (before the first sequence between Heero and Ghungroo and few more)

The Music was as pathetic as the movie.. Only the song, Mehbooba was mixed very well… rest of the songs were not even worth listening once..

Overall, the movie was bad in the first half and pathetic in the 2nd.. All the actors were wasted except Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal.

So, in short… STAY AWAY… get DVD of Sholay and don’t bother watching this movie ever…

I would rate this movie Rating: ★½☆☆☆ (All goes to Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal)

Well, yea it has become a joke actually. Mumbai Police is back with their mind blowing idea to stop terrorist activities..

They have decided to install keyloggers in 500 cyber cafes to monitor all the activities aka to read everyone’s mails, login to everyone’s personal accounts (including bank account), read everyone’s chat messages and what not..

I have no idea why they are still in impression that every terrorist is dumb and is going to email like this “Tomorrow, plant the bomb at xx place”… lol… and if at all they used to mail these kind of stuff openly in simple words, then they are definitely going to stop after reading about this “invention” by Mumbai Police..

According to Mumbai Police, if terrorists carry these activities from their home, they can be caught. But why Mumbai Police is still unaware about the proxy servers?

Some of the quotes from the article:

Vijay Mukhi, President of the Foundation for Information Security and Technology says, “The terrorists know that if they use machines at home, they can be caught. Cybercafes therefore give them anonymity.”

“The police needs to install programs that will capture every key stroke at regular interval screen shots, which will be sent back to a server that will log all the data.

The Mumbai police are in dialogue with M/s Micro Technologies for procuring a software called CARMS (Cyber Access Remote Monitoring System), a powerful monitoring tool that seeks to curb cyber crime.

CARMS monitors web browsing, file transfers, news, chats, messaging and e-mail, including all encoded attachments. In a sensitive environment, CARMS can also be used to restrict user or group access to only approved external and internal sites, explained a company official.

This is what they have to say about privacy:

“The question we need to ask ourselves is whether a breach of privacy is more important or the security of the nation. I do not think the above question needs an answer,” said Mukhi. “

God save my country!!

Are you unhappy with anything? Do you need some extra attention? or Do you just want to see how burnt vehicles look?

Well, it’s all easy to do in India. Just gather around 50 - 70 people and start pelting stones, set vehicles on the fire, kill few people.. I am 100% sure that no one is going to arrest you. And if at all they arrest you, you will get bail in a day max.

Earlier we had noticed this in Navi Mumbai and today, it happened in Agra.

The reason? 4 people killed in an accident by truck driver.

The outcome? 10 trucks, 2 jeeps (including a police vehicle) burnt, over 50 people hurt.. Curfew declared in that area. Police is almost sleeping, government is yet to wake up.

No news of any arrest, I am sure no one will get arrested too.

So, in short.. it is pretty much easy to torch vehicles in India… isn’t it!!

Check this wonderful piece of post written by my friend, Ashwin. He blogs at The Newspaper Blog, which is not your run-out-of-mill personal blog.

The article speaks about how we tend to choose the career which our parents always wanted and in full filling their wish, we miss out the things which we always wanted to do.

I personally liked this article very much because it relates to lives of many people around me. I totally echo Ashwin’s views.

Great article.. and it is a must read!!!

What are you going do and study after your schooling?

Here’s my take.

Do what you love to do.

My Story
I was in Science group (in school) and did Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), because my parents said so. I didn’t have any interest in ECE (or engineering in general). I was spelling ‘enginnering’ till I was in 3rd year.

I passed with First Class (missed distinction by 2 marks-74.48%) and was ranked 9th in my class. I was jobless (happily ‘unemployed’- earning hundreds of dollars) for one year, post graduation. I learnt a lot in life than in a decade of my education. Two years since my graduation now, I know nothing in Engineering (’forgot’ what I learnt). I’ve a job (Product Engineer - Mapping & GIS) which is no where related to my degree and requires no knowledge of engineering.

I’m doing fine now, but I want to kick myself for not having a clear goal 7 years back.

Enjoy Life
After all you’re going to live for one time.

Enjoy the 3-4 years of your graduation. Do you really like solving Math problems, drawing [crap], learning about dudes & events that you don’t care, study mug like a parrot, read Literature like it’s nobody’s business? Well, that time won’t come back.

Thinking you’re not going along with the herd? You’re human, not a sheep. Trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. It did for me, Steve Jobs and it will for you.

Earn the degree.
Don’t let it own you.
Do what you like and passionate about, not just because it’s in vogue or others testimonial. You won’t regret it later. Life is too short for regrets.

Screw the degree hype. It’s just a piece of paper. Most of the jobs won’t require the things that you were educated. You might end up doing something different than the subject you were educated. Why waste your time and money doing things what you won’t make you happy.

The bottom line
Think what you want to do with your life and have a clear goal. Then go for your dreams without giving up.

It’s alright to get educated in one area and make a living out of some other area. Choosing a profession which makes you happy and passionate about rather than money, peer/parent pressure is a smart decision.

Do what you like. Screw the rest.

Well, I was expecting some laughter riot from this movie but it left me disappointed. Anyways, let’s quickly get back to the movie.

The story is pretty much straight forward, 3 best friends, staying together, having best time of their lives, flirting with girls all the time and partying..One day, someone rings their doorbell and leaves a baby at the doorstep.  That’s it, they all first try to find who is the father of that baby amongst them and to find that, they look around for the mother.. (from their list of girlfriends) haha.. This whole idea should be enough to create a superb laughter riot but director decided to put in some emotional stuff, which turned movie like any other bollywood flick.

I had mentioned this earlier too and mentioning again, directors should not mix emotions with comedy movies. Comedy movies are meant to be mindless where as emotions need mind and heart. And you really cannot mix up both the things together.

Apart from typical story and bad emotional stuff, the movie has few good things too. Specially, the little child, Angel.. she was super cute.. few comedy scenes and Ritesh Deshmukh. I personally liked him better than Akshay Kumar.

Few more bad things include, Shahrukh Khan and Anupam Kher’s cameo, it was simply pathetic and unnecessary. Songs, leaving the title song and Jaane Bhi De apart, rest were BAD. And lastly, Vidya Balan’s figure, something was seriously wrong with her figure or with the dresses or my eyes. I found her bit plumped up in the bottom part.

I think, direction and screenplay could have improved a lot. Concept was really nice and it could have made much better.

So, overall, I would rate this movie Rating: ★★☆☆☆. It can be easily skipped. Just watch it on DVD, no need to waste money on theatre tickets.
