4.30 AM, super chilled weather.. you leave for Tiger Hill (to watch Sun Rise and get glimpse of Everest and Kanchanjanga mountain chains from close) in.. 2 warm vests, 1 normal vest, 2 shirts, 1 winter jacket, ear pads (to protect ears from wind), warm thermal under pants, jeans, 2 pair of socks, hand gloves..
You reach there around 5.30 AM or so.. the weather is still super cold, infact super super cold.. there is no effect of warm clothes on you.. you still feel cold.. wind is hitting directly on your face..your hands are freezing..the feeling is exactly same as when you hold ice cube tight in your hand.. freezing..
But you forget everything once you get glimpse of those snowy chain of mountains, your hand does not move from your camera.. you just can’t stop clicking the beauty.. and soon after that, you see sun rising from the other side.. you run around to get a perfect shot..
Apart from chilled weather.. you enjoy the beauty, you don’t care about anything.. and this is what I call FUN..
You reach your hotel room around 10 AM or so (after checking couple of other places), you pray hard for the snowfall.. around 8 PM in the evening.. you notice some rainfall outside.. around 8.15 PM, someone knocks your door.. “Come out.. it’s snowing”.. you are like “Damn.. Megha.. let’s go out..” you go out in whatever clothes you are wearing.. put on the jacket.. take the cam.. and start shooting and enjoying the snowfall..
It was a heavenly experience.. we both were eagerly waiting for the snowfall and finally we got chance to enjoy it.. we shot a video and clicked many pics in the snowfall.. I will upload the stuff once we are back in Mumbai..
Early next morning we left for Gangtok.. we were lucky that the roads were clear.. reached Gangtok at around 2 PM..
We are staying at Orange Village Resort at Gangtok. But the place is nothing compared to Cedar Inn (Darjeeling – we had stayed there). Though the view is pretty good from the room but the food is simply overpriced and is tasteless. (I will post detailed review about the hotels we stayed in few days.)
Yesterday, we visited some 7 points including 2 Monasteries, Rope Way thing and couple of view points.. have clicked some great pics too.. but again, will upload once we reach Mumbai.
Today we are leaving for North Sikkim trip for a day.. will be staying at some hotel at Lachung. day after tomorrow, we are going to Visit Nathula Pass.. near China border..
And yea one more thing, I didn’t mention earlier.. my tooth ache is acting as a big obstacle in the honeymoon.. it does not stop because of this cold.. have taken several medicines, tried lot of things but nothing works.. but yea, I was lucky enough last night that I could get some good sleep…I had slept the earlier night without getting proper sleep
Okay, I am off now.. also note that, this post was written in various parts.. (over 2-3 days)
Finally we are away from all the mess, all the complications.. we are currently in the heaven.. aka Darjeeling. This is our 2nd day here (we will be leaving from here on 26th Jan morning for Pelling) and I am already thinking of extending my plan so we can stay here for couple of more days haha..
Trust me.. it is simply heaven.. 0 degree temperature is a very common thing here.. I guess last night it went into some minus degrees.. we had plans to check out few places today but could not go because of some political strike here..
The climate is way too cold… sunshine has become a rare sight.. 5 – 5.30 PM and it is night here.. haha.. currently we both are tucked in our cozy bed and watching TV.. I am currently wearing, a vest, another warm vest (thermal wear) on top of it, T-shirt, a winter jacket, hand gloves, thermal pants, track pants and socks.. room temperature is sort of controlled by the heater and we are kind of shivering under these thick blankets.. but still it’s super fun..
I could take a glimpse of mountains from my window but most of the time everything is covered by clouds and fog.. we have taken several great pics from our cam.. I will try to upload few of them tomorrow…
We have plans to leave early morning tomorrow to visit Tiger Hills (around 4 AM) and check out few other places..
So lastly, if you are planning for your honeymoon or planning to go out with your wife / girlfriend.. give first priority to Darjeeling.. I am sure, you won’t regret it ever..
and don’t forget to get a handy cam.. we have forgotten to bring it here and we are regretting it..
More updates in coming days.. till then.. lots of love.. haha yea lots of love lol
Next Saturday, 19th Jan 2008.. what I will be doing?
Few of my friends already know about it but for the ones who don’t know.. I will be tying knot to my girlfriend, Megha on 19th Jan..
If you ask me now, there are mixed feelings running around my head.. there is lot of excitement, there is some pressure related to work (mainly).. there is some tension about the things on the D day.. but I guess, things should be fine as the day comes near..
20th will be my reception.. on 23rd, I will be off for my honeymoon to Darjeeling, Pelling, Gangtok and Lachung. Will be back by 3rd Feb.
And then again.. back to work.. but yea.. a new life will start with new partner.. a new role.. a new responsibility and more love
Need best wishes..
Regards,
Deep
I think these days there is a trend to start a premium channel.. when I had bought Tata Sky, I had got bunch of channels for Rs. 300 per month but recently I see many channels jumping into bandwagon of being premium paid channels.
I think it started with Neo Sports… earlier it was free but now we have to pay around Rs. 20 per month to get Neo Channels (2 sports channels by Neo – Neo Sports and Neo Sports Plus). I have no idea what is so special in this channel which will make me shell out Rs. 250 per year… If they think Cricket is the thing, I think it’s pretty stupid as India’s matches are shown on DD National too.. (and it’s crystal clear on Tata Sky)
Another example would be Tata Sky’s Entertainment Gold Pack, it includes 3 channels.. NDTV Good Times, Bindass and 9X. (around Rs. 30 per month)
I have watched all these channels during their promotional period (they were free for around 2 months or so). NDTV Good Times did not impress me at all. Bindass had around 3 shows being played throughout the day, one of their dubbed show based on pranks was good but again it was being repeat telecasted almost every other day. The last one is, 9X.. this one was biggest piece of sh!t.. it had all saas bahu types show.. again, not worth the money… why would moms and aunts will pay extra money for these channels if they are getting better shows for free on Star Plus, Sony or Zee?
I don’t know why these channel guys do not think twice before making such a move.. they should understand that, it they are making their channel a paid channel then they are supposed to give double the value of money in return but here, forget about the return.. all you get is same kind of shows.. and no return of your money..
I think these channels badly need smart people in their team.. sigh…
I sometimes don’t understand, there is a ban on drink and drive but why there is no ban on drunken umpires? Steve Buckner is not ready to leave his habit of drinking on the field and ICC (and even BCCI) is just ignoring it..
It totally sucks when these idiots give wrong decisions each and every time.. it had happened earlier and today also.. Dravid was clear not-out but I don’t know what made Buckner give him out.
Sometimes I feel, racism is still not gone.. or may be there is corruption? or may be personal flames?
Whatever it is, cricket is getting affected because of this.
Sucks..
