Some quickies..

Krazzy 4 - Story details here. Those who are expecting this one as a fully comedy movie, hold for a bit, this one is more of emotional than comedy. Not a good mix of emotions with comedy again. (Had mentioned this many times earlier in reviews) Bad songs, unnecessary stuffing of the songs, not so good story (but could have handled very well), super bad climax, some good funny scenes and superb dance number by Hritik Roshan = Krazzy 4. Watch it at your risk. Please don’t make me responsible for spoiling your weekend. Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Khuda Ke Liye - Story details here. Very good motive behind the movie. Weak first half but very very strong 2nd half though I could not digest few of the things but still much much better than 1st half. Liked the acting of Rasheed Naaz.Iman Ali looked beautiful. Didn’t like Shaan’s acting for some reason, I think he was looking bit too old for that character. Fawad Khan was good but not great. But the movie left a very strong message in the end. A must watch. Rating: ★★★☆☆

Ok, for those who don’t know. This one is written and directed by Ajay Devgan. It’s his directional debut. Returned from the movie at around 3 AM (the show had started bit late) So, don’t get shocked if you see some grammatical or spelling mistakes ahead.

So here we go…

The plot is about a husband who loves her wife very much and is always with her, no matter what she is going through. The movie starts with a sweet love story between Ajay (Ajay Devgan) and Piya (Kajol Devgan), the love story which starts in a cruise, takes the form of Marriage and commitment. The life becomes standstill when Ajay gets to know that Piya is suffering from brain disease called Alzheimer. (In simple words, short term memory loss). What will Ajay do now? Rest is to watch..

I was personally touched by the story and the way it was narrated, it somehow left an impact on me though it was a very common story. There was some kind of magic in the movie which touched heart of many people, may be it could be simplicity of the story or may be it was the director who knew how to handle situations well.

But being said that, it does not mean that everything was rosy. Here are couple of the things which did not fit well..

  1. Too many songs, specially in the 2nd half, unnecessary stuffing of unbearable songs was one of the worst points of the movie.
  2. Not so good execution of the movie / story, the whole movie becomes pretty much predictable in the interval itself. (To be frank Megha - my wife, predicted whole thing in the beginning only and no, she did not have any idea about the story earlier)

But I don’t deny that Ajay Devgan is a good director, he is indeed a good director, that is why such a simple story made a good impact on people.  But if you compare with first timer Aamir Khan, Aamir wins the race anytime.

On the acting front, I just loved Kajol, amazing actress. Hats off. Ajay Devgan was superb too. It was good to see Sumeet Raghavan on a big screen… (I still can’t forget Sahil from Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai). Rest of the star cast was good, nothing to be taken note of.

The music was pretty ok, I personally liked only 2 songs, the title song and Jee Le. Rest of them were kind of waste of energy.

So, overall the movie was pretty good, simple story, good to watch over the weekend. I would rate this movie Rating: ★★★☆☆

On the box office, it should do fair business, can easily reach the Hit status.

Just got back from the movie. Wasn’t expecting a very good show but it turned out to be pretty good. Few people said, it is a copy of the English movie A Few Good Men, well yes, It could be a copy but let’s leave the copy business aside as every other bollywood movie is “inspired” or in simple words copied from English movies, these days.

So not wasting much your time, let’s directly move on the storyline.

Captain Javed Khan is charged for killing Major Rathore and is being held in custody. The case goes into the hands of 2 military lawyers aka friends, Aakash aka AK (Javed Jaafri) and Siddhant aka Sid (Rahul Bose). AK is much more serous about the work than Sid. Sid is appointed as defense lawyer but he is least interested in getting deep into the case. But local local Journalist Kaavya (Minissha Lamba) helps him to find the right path and this leads Sid to become more serious about the case and he fights back.

Ok, now the review time.. (My favorite part, I hate storytelling business..)

I would not be able to comment on the story part as it is more or less copied from A Few Good Men. But on the acting front, apart from Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon (Pratap) was really impressive, he had a limited role but his role I think made stronger impact than of the Rahul Bose. Also, Deepak Dobriyal (Javed Khan) was pretty impressive too, he did have only few lines but his expressions were more than enough. A very strong character who loves his country more than anything. It was good to see Javed Jaafri in non-comic role. (His role in Tara Rum Pum was super pathetic), but Javed could not get rid of his dancing shoes, he proved himself in one of the songs. (The first song), well that was kind of bad though, it was going against the image of a serious character.

Ok, let’s leave that aside for now. Who is left now? I guess no one.. hmm no wait, there is my favorite Minissha Lamba, I am sorry I forgot her.. she got lost in the crowd of a few good men.. haha.. She had a limited role and that limited role did not give a chance to explore her acting skills. She looked really beautiful but on the acting front, I was remained unimpressed.

Let’s talk about the other things. The music was pretty much pathetic except the song Dheere Dheere, this one was a great exception. Just loved it like anything. (Have set it as my caller tune too.. haha) The background score was a joke, it was more like combination of military marching drums with some additional instruments. In short, it wasn’t easy on ears.  Cinematography was pretty Ok, Kashmir is a beautiful place, should have been explored well. The direction was pretty ok too, the first half, around 15 - 20 minutes needed re work and even few of the scenes needed a better work. (Specially, the scenes which motivates Sid to take more interest in the case)

So, overall, the movie was pretty good. I personally liked it. I would rate it Rating: ★★★☆☆

On the business front, I can see darkness all around, the theatre was merely 25% full. Word of mouth can save the movie but still I don’t think it can reach Hit mark. It might settle at average mark at the max.

Yesterday, I upgraded Wordpress to latest version and also moved to the new server. But after that I don’t know something went wrong with the blog and it started throwing blank pages on random basis.

The blog starts working fine when I restart apache and change the theme to classic (No default wordpress theme also doesn’t work) and then change it back again to my custom theme.

Pretty strange error.. I had plans to watch Shaurya in the afternoon but I guess I will have to fix this issue first..

Do let me know at deep at whoisdeep dot com if you are getting any strange errors on the blog..

Update: Just found that the issue is with Apache installation, some conflict between Apache and PHP modules. I have asked the tech support to reinstall Apache. I guess that should happen in couple of hours.
