Anyone heard about this movie, Jimmy? I guess no, actually it’s not worth knowing also. But I kind of wanted to watch this movie, not because I was expecting it to be a good movie but just because I wanted to watch macho man with kind of guy with Sachin Tendulkar’s voice. (No offence meant here though, just fun..) Talking about Mimoh, Mithun Chakraborty’s son.

Okay, so I reached the theatre at 10.30 AM for 10.35 AM show, got the ticket.. waited outside the screen 1. Was happy to see that it was still being cleaned up. Waited for around 10 minutes, still closed.

Finally, I asked someone at the helpdesk about it,

I told her - When is the show for Jimmy gonna start
She replied - Jimmy?
I said - Yea?
She asked again - Sir, Jimmy?
I replied - Yes, the movie Jimmy..
She checked my ticket to confirm, asked me to hold for a minute and went inside
She returned back with couple of guys, they all had a funny question mark sign on their face..
One of the staff members told me, Sir, unfortunately, we won’t be able to screen current show..
I asked them the reason for it?
He said, sir, because you are the only one who has booked the ticket for it..
I was like WTF.. there was one more guy yaar..
He replied - No sir, he was for some other movie.. we need atleast 4 people to start the movie..

Now, this incident reminded me of the movie Rocky, that movie had managed to get 3 people including me. But sadly, this one could not do that.

But I am no mood to review and go for it.. (though I am sure, my review would have give everyone a good laughter dose)

Anyways, that was my story.. pretty funny though.. I still remember, Sameer laughing out loud when I told him about it over the phone.. lol

Okay, now if anyone is still interested in the review, please read it on Buzz18 (Pretty funny review)

To be frank, I was going to review Jimmy (Mimoh starrer) first, but luckily I went for Bhoothnath and I am really happy about my decision. (More about Jimmy story in a while) Now back to Bhootnath.

The story revolves around a kid, Banku (Aman Siddiqui) and Bhootnath (Amitabh Bachchan). The story shows how Banku becomes friend of a bhoot or Angel in his words, how they share the relationship like grandfather and grand son.

Very well drafted story, aimed mostly at kids. In most of the kid movies we see the movie going overboard with those magical moments and gets lost in it or many movies mix lot of emotions to show softer side of the bhoot / ghost. But this movie has balance of both, emotions and comedy (magical stuff).

The kid Aman, impressed me the most, very natural acting. Really loved the chemistry between Amitabh Bachchan and the kid, they look as if they are actually grandfather and the grandson. Like always, Amitabh Bachchan, he is a superstar, no one can beat him in terms of acting. Juhi Chawla was good, perfect for the character of a mother. Shahrukh was in guest appearance kind of role, nothing great there, they could have gone for an actor who is bit lighter on the pocket. Rajpal Yadav had a very limited role, kind of failed to make me laugh but his character was needed, so not wasted.

Graphics work was pretty good, I guess we have reached to a pretty good level in the field of GFX. I remember earlier kid movies, they badly lacked good GFX work.

Direction was pretty good, editing required some kind of tune up, found some scenes cut suddenly.. also couple of songs could have been chopped.. though kids might love those songs.

I guess, that’s it. Pretty nice movie.. worth watching in theatre, kinds gonna love this one.

I would give it Rating: ★★★½☆. On the box office front, it should do fair amount of business, should reach the hit mark atleast.

Watched few movies last week.. so here are the quick reviews:

  1. The Darjeeling Ltd. - Very different movie, in the beginning, I didn’t like it much but the end result was good. Pretty decent movie, only 1 and half hours though but worth visiting theatre once for it.
  2. Iron Man - Fantastic movie, a must watch. Really enjoyed watching it. Loved the display of gadgets in the lead actor’s home / office. Action scenes were pretty smart.
  3. The Forbidden Kingdom - Good movie, nothing great though but if you like Kung Fu fighting and Jackie Chan, don’t miss this one. Great fight scenes, worth watching once.
  4. Tashan - Anil Kapoor was simply the worst of all, I would have preferred someone hitting on my head than listening to crappy dialogues of Anil Kapoor. Akhay Kumar was good but still not worth spending money only for him. Saif, Kareena were OK OK. I am still not able to grasp why Kareena was needed to put off the weight for this movie. The movie missed story, screenplay and direction too. Fight scenes were utter crap, above the head, confusing and too loud. Climax made no sense to me. They tried to show Kareena like Uma Thurman of Kill Bill but ended up showing some funny action scenes. Overall, the movie sucked.

That’s it for now, next week looking forward to Mimoh Chakraborty’s Jimmy. (I love to watch stupid movies..) and Amitabh Bachchan starring Bhoothnath.

Some quickies..

Krazzy 4 - Story details here. Those who are expecting this one as a fully comedy movie, hold for a bit, this one is more of emotional than comedy. Not a good mix of emotions with comedy again. (Had mentioned this many times earlier in reviews) Bad songs, unnecessary stuffing of the songs, not so good story (but could have handled very well), super bad climax, some good funny scenes and superb dance number by Hritik Roshan = Krazzy 4. Watch it at your risk. Please don’t make me responsible for spoiling your weekend. Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Khuda Ke Liye - Story details here. Very good motive behind the movie. Weak first half but very very strong 2nd half though I could not digest few of the things but still much much better than 1st half. Liked the acting of Rasheed Naaz.Iman Ali looked beautiful. Didn’t like Shaan’s acting for some reason, I think he was looking bit too old for that character. Fawad Khan was good but not great. But the movie left a very strong message in the end. A must watch. Rating: ★★★☆☆

Ok, for those who don’t know. This one is written and directed by Ajay Devgan. It’s his directional debut. Returned from the movie at around 3 AM (the show had started bit late) So, don’t get shocked if you see some grammatical or spelling mistakes ahead.

So here we go…

The plot is about a husband who loves her wife very much and is always with her, no matter what she is going through. The movie starts with a sweet love story between Ajay (Ajay Devgan) and Piya (Kajol Devgan), the love story which starts in a cruise, takes the form of Marriage and commitment. The life becomes standstill when Ajay gets to know that Piya is suffering from brain disease called Alzheimer. (In simple words, short term memory loss). What will Ajay do now? Rest is to watch..

I was personally touched by the story and the way it was narrated, it somehow left an impact on me though it was a very common story. There was some kind of magic in the movie which touched heart of many people, may be it could be simplicity of the story or may be it was the director who knew how to handle situations well.

But being said that, it does not mean that everything was rosy. Here are couple of the things which did not fit well..

  1. Too many songs, specially in the 2nd half, unnecessary stuffing of unbearable songs was one of the worst points of the movie.
  2. Not so good execution of the movie / story, the whole movie becomes pretty much predictable in the interval itself. (To be frank Megha - my wife, predicted whole thing in the beginning only and no, she did not have any idea about the story earlier)

But I don’t deny that Ajay Devgan is a good director, he is indeed a good director, that is why such a simple story made a good impact on people.  But if you compare with first timer Aamir Khan, Aamir wins the race anytime.

On the acting front, I just loved Kajol, amazing actress. Hats off. Ajay Devgan was superb too. It was good to see Sumeet Raghavan on a big screen… (I still can’t forget Sahil from Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai). Rest of the star cast was good, nothing to be taken note of.

The music was pretty ok, I personally liked only 2 songs, the title song and Jee Le. Rest of them were kind of waste of energy.

So, overall the movie was pretty good, simple story, good to watch over the weekend. I would rate this movie Rating: ★★★☆☆

On the box office, it should do fair business, can easily reach the Hit status.
