Just like Hum Dil De Chuke’s music release, I was waiting very eagerly for this one too. Finally, it released last week, I made a point to grab the audio cd and since then, I have been listening to it, almost whole day.. haha. You must have got the idea about the review from above line. Yes, I loved it..

I don’t know whether I should praise the music director Monty Sharma or the real music director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali..

I know, I know, Sanjay is the director but I consider him as the real music director. Why? Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam - Music by Ismail Darbar - Super Hit Music, Devdas - again, Music by Ismail Darbar - Music was hit too.  Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa - Music by Ismail Darbar - worst music, flop.

The point is, Sanjay Leela Bhansali made him work the way he wanted and got the good music out of him. Same way it could have happen with Monty Sharma too but by this I don’t mean to say that these music directors are bad. But what I am trying to say is, Sanjay’s knows what exactly he wants and how he can take it out from the music directors or actors or be anyone associated with his film.

Okay, enough of praising. Let’s get back on the track.

Saawariya Songs (Track Listing):

  1. Saawariya - Shail Hada
  2. Jab Se Tere Naina - Shaan
  3. Masha Allah - Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal
  4. Thode Badmash - Shreya Ghoshal
  5. Yoon Shabnami - Parthiv Gohil
  6. Daras Bina Nahin Chain - Richa Sharma, Shail Hada, Parthiv Gohil
  7. Sawar Gayi - Shreya Ghoshal
  8. Jaan-e-Jaan - Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal
  9. Pari - Kunal Ganjawala
  10. Chhabeela - Alka Yagnik
  11. Saawariya Reprise - Shail Hada

First song, Saawariya by Shail Hada - excellent song, superb lyrics and specially sung very well. I was afraid that the singer might take the song on very high pitch but it was pretty much balanced.

Jab Se Tere Naina by Shaan.. this one is perfect for romantic song, specially if you want to impress you girlfriend. (It worked with mine) haha. It’s so melodious, you feel like singing out loud.. Jab se tera naina… mere naino se lage re… tab se diwana hua, sabse begana hua.. rab bhi diwana lage re…  I should stop now i guess.. haha

I think, I should just sum up the stuff rather than posting my detailed views on each songs.

Masha Allah, though it was sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Shreya Ghosal, the whole credit goes to Kunal (Shreya has nothing much to sing in this one). Thode Badmash, superbly sung by Shreya. Yoon Shabnami was sung pretty well by Parthiv Gohil.

Daras Bina Nahin Chain, Richa Sharma is just amazing here, just superb. This can’t be called as full fledged song but it looks to be used in credits or somewhere in between some sequences. Sawar Gayi by Shreya is another exceptional song in this album. Jaan-e-Jaan sung well by Kunal and Shreya. But if we compare with other songs, it might be that good but yes, I liked it.

Pari, one more by Kunal.. no need to praise him again for his singing abilities. Nice song. Chhabeela by Alka Yagnik, reminds me of songs of era of late 90s with some better music. Good song but nothing great though. Looks like, it might be some introduction song for one of the actresses. (Rani or Sonam)

The last one, Saawariya Reprise is kind of unplugged (or live) version of the song Saawariya. I personally felt Shail went bit over the board in the beginning but things got balanced once the actual song started.

So, overall, I would rate this album Rating: ★★★★☆ The songs might not appeal the masses in the beginning but it is like, more we listen.. more we like. I don’t know about others but I have felt in love with this masterpiece and that is what made me write music review after a long time. :)

Well, I am not a regular TV watcher but I do watch selected TV serials. And Love Story is one of them. You can watch it on SAB TV at 9 PM - Monday to Thursday (Friday is repeat telecast). The story is kind of common but the way they have presented is very different. Apart from the story, other best part of this serial is, The Songs.

Awesome songs, rock songs. Obviously it is not heavy rock but it can be called as soft rock as the songs are mostly love songs. Superb lyrics. Specially the song Teri Yaadein. The credits show the band Cactus for the music but I could not find any information about the songs on their site. But finally today I found downloadable version of the song. and the shocking part is, the song is originally sung It is sung by a Pakistani band called IMIK the song was included in their first album Zamana Badlay Ga - released in 2005. The song was titled as Piya. I have no idea why they have not given credit to IMIK, could have purchased copyrights or something.

You can download listen to the Hindi version of the song here or you can watch the IMIK’s video here

If you haven’t heard the song yet, I would strong recommend you to listen to it from above link.

Update: I found information about one more song from the serial, this one is the song which is featured along with the credits. It was originally sung by the band Cactus in Bengali, it was included in the Bengali movie Nil Nirjone released in 2002. The song was named as Mon (which means Mann) - Thanks to Anuran for the heads up. Till now I could not find Hindi version of it online. (Apart from the ones recorded from TV)

Bengali version of the song can be downloaded from Cactus’s official site, but it is not a full version. Or you can also listen to the song here. Watch Mon video here

I will keep you guys updated.

Update 2: Listen to the song Ranjish Hi Sahi here, this one was originally sung by well known singer Runa Laila. In the serial, this one was sung by Shurti in some party.

Till now I was in impression that Annu Malik is the only one who is into ripping the songs directly but today I got to know that, every music director of Indian Film Industry is into ripping the songs straight from the original tracks. (Ofcourse few directors like A.R. Rahman, Sandeep Chowta are not included in this)

Let me start from the recent movies…

Krissh - Rajesh Roshan, how many liked the song Dil Na Diya? Well, tune is lifted from the original song Ceddin Deden by Ottoman Military Project

Okay, now let’s talk about superhit soundtrack of Gangster, Pritam is the music director. I guess Ya Ali was the best song of the soundtrack….but wait…..it’s a ripped one from the band called Guitara, the original song name is Ya Ghali and 2nd best song of the movie was Bheegi Bheegi, oh wait, this one is also ripped….this one is from a Bangla band called Mohiner Ghoraguli, the song is Prithibi, one more, Lamha Lamha is ripped from Pakistani singer Waris Baig’s track Kal Shab Dekha
How many liked Fanaa music (Jatin Lalit) ? Specially the song, Chanda Chamke, it was ripped from one of their songs Yara Yara from Hum Tum…but, was that original? NO, it is a ripped song too…the original song, al-Samra Wil Beyda is by Miami Group

Few more popular hit songs which are ripped from other songs, Urzu urzu durkut from Yahaan (Shantanu Moitra) is ripped from the 1993 track Dulaman by Altan, Gela Gela from Aitraaz (Himesh Reshammiya) is lifted from R Kelly’s song, Thoia Thoing.

The list is endless and these guys are never going to stop ripping songs from the original ones. I must start listening to Arabic music, 90% of the songs are ripped from Arabic music.

You must have heard of great pakistani bands like Strings, Jal, Fuzon, Junoon etc…but very few people know about this great band Aaroh…they have been around for so long but not very well promoted in India….

Couple of years back they were in India for promotion of some Sanjay Datt starrer movie (I think it was Rakht), they had sung / composed the title rock song of that movie…. but unfortunately it didn’t work…and after that the band disappeared from India…

I got to know about this band in late 2003, they had just released their album, Sawaal, Hindi rock with solid lyrics…I really enjoyed all the songs of that album and I still listen to that album many times…it is one of my favorites…
After that, for 3 years….I did not hear anything from that band…but now they are back with their new single Pyaar Ka Jaal…again…very good song and is must download….

You can get the song from their site officially, here is the link

If you are fan of Hindi Rock, then you must grab the copy of their album Sawaal and if you are hater of Hindi Rock, give this album a try, I am sure you will start loving it…
