I am using American Power Conversion Corp (APC) UPS at home, it was giving me problems for long time so I just went to APC India website, chatted to their support person on Live Chat…
He asked me to provide UPS serial number and model number….I mailed them…next day (Approx 10.30 AM) I got reply from them saying their person will come in a day and replace the battery and in next few hours I got call from that person to confirm my address…he arrived at my place at 6.15 PM same day …finished him work…replaced the battery by 6.45 PM…
Their service was simply superb…till now my best experience with the support department of any company…
Other companies should learn from them….
Yeah Deep I too experienced their great after sales support. I just called on their all India toll free helpline and informed that my UPS wasnt functioning. After two days my door bell rang and I found a APC rep standing with a brand new piece.
Really awesome support, hope the continue these standards.

Both are superb with
excellent products and matching spotless service standards.
Both are American companies.
Indian companies like Zee Dish TV, Airtel and all others have quite a lot to learn form these American companies so as to get a clue as to what world class Customer Service means. Talking to Customer Service personnel of Indian companies is like banginng your head against the wall, whatever the nature of problem. They are just not ready understand your problem and to extend any help whatsoever.

My UPS, which was purchased for using with desktop PC at home, is under warranty. Due to problems in the new battery the same was replaced vide referred above on 8-April-2005 by M/s Rolex Logistics (P) Ltd. at Secundrabad. However the replaced battery was hardly any back up. During UPS on battery load (which is much less than full load) the battery is being discharged within 2 to 3 minuets and PC is shutting down within no time.
The same was intimated to M/s Rolex at secundrabad but the same was not replaced or nobody attended. I was told to contact a toll free number (080 3987056), which also not lifted.
I feel the battery replaced one is of poor quality because even after continuous charge it cannot hold the charges / back up.
In view of this I may be replaced a proper battery having proper charge / discharge cycle test done as per specification by the manufacturer and shown to me for satisfaction.

I wish I could agree with the positive comments about APC’s service provided by some of the other reviewers.
I also was a stauch supporter of APC after using their UPS for my PC (fortunately I did not have to call their customer support yet) and decided to buy a home inverter.
I had a blind faith that the product will be good and also their technical support. Unfortunately, I did encounter a few problems with APC’s support.
1. The periodic preventive maintenance they were supposed to do once in 4 months within the warranty period of 2 years was not done.
2. When I reported a problem, they sent a service engineer after 4 days, even though they promised to send one after 2 days. The service engineer only attended to the preventive maintenance part, pasted a sticker on the unit confirming that it is Ok and went away. The problem did not get solved and I had to call the service center again, referring to my previous complaint. They agreed to send a service engineer the same day or if not the next day. No one turned up even after 4 days, and finally I had to escalate to their Manager to get some one attend to it. Finally, it turned out that the battery was dead, and it is more than 2 weeks since this was diagnosed and APC is yet to provide a replacement battery in spite of my regular follow-up with their customer support and escalation to higher authorities.
May be, their service support was pretty good earlier, which has perhaps deteriorated in the recent past, as the sales volumes would have grown and they are not able to ramp up the support infrastructure or have an indifferent attitude.
In any case, the moral of this story is not to get carried away by the reputation of a global brand and check with your colleagues and friends about the service provided by a brand before buying their products. Otherwise, you are guaranteed of frustration with these big brands.
Yup, recently APC support for specially inverters is kind of bad. Heard lot of complaints from people.
APC support for inverters is very bad … We complained before 10 days regarding the problem in inverter that caused with in a month of purchase.. They said that support person will come with in 2 days.Upto now no one came.. we called again with that complaint number but still no response…

i have purchase an apc ups from Real computers in pune on march 2006 and now my ups is giving problem.
APC Back-UPS RS 800 supplied under DGS&D rate contract are all of poor quality. Moreover the relacement given against faulty UPS are also not tested fully. Complaint for replacement unit requires that we fax a copy of the bill. This is harrassment to customer as bills are not readyly available as they have already been incorporated in accounts and submitted to Accountant General. Necessary action may be taken from your end to maintain records of all such replaced units against the original which is covered under warranty, else replacement should be done with a new unit as it has been found that a few of the replaced units have also been received defective.

i am using apc es 500 model and they say it will give 22 min. back up but thats all wrong it gave 10-12 min when i bought it with 15″ monitor and the cpu after few months that came to 4-5 mins. and it is 9 days passed i made the complant there is no reply .

today on 14 march i made a complant to apc again about the same backup problem
i first made complant on 28 dec. 2007 after making 4 or 5 call to apc they came to my house on 27 or 28 th of jan 2008. and they were in hurry they tried every thing but they were not able to fix it in the end they changed the card ad left saying it is ok now and gave ther phone no. which always is off. i called apc again they said ur ups is bing replaced i said no they said call the local center gave me 2 no. which does not exists. today i make the complant again so lets see when they come.
so after all this i will recommend not to buy apc because ther service sucks even dont buy who give online warranty

I was given an old ups (same batch) with lots of scratches and dust instead of my newly damaged Ups , the newly given ups has only back up of 10 minutes where as my old ups gave me above 30 mins , They gave me a worser ups which has more complaints , now i need to contact them again

Worst Customer service ever after they sell the product never visit even though the product is under warranty. I am using their Lighting UPS and their local service is non existent.
I am not sure how can some one praise support of a company like APC. I have never seen any thing as bad in consumer electronics.
I had made mistake of buying a 1KVA inverter about 15 months back. I had gone in by reputation of the company. This UPS has failed 3 times during last 15 months. Each time the serive engineer reaches after 10 days and during one instance replacement took closer to 2 weeks.
I am not sure what kind of product quality they have and whether they are keen to service the customer.

HELLO ALL This is Samik from Bangalore. Bangalore is supposed to the corporate head office of APC, India at Lavelle road, Bangalore. I have brought a APC 600VA UPS from APC exactly 1 year back. It has failed SINCE 29TH JULY 2008 & today 20th Aug its still not working.
I have been calling the APC customer service number 080 39022272 since last 15 days and everyday they tell me some engineer is coming to my house,then since 5 days back, 1 engineer came. He looks like a road side street mechanic name Yogesh from Shiva Systems, Jayanagar ( It seems they are outsource agency for repair and maintenance product of APC UPS in Bangalore ). He ( the mechanic )doesnt even know which wire is Live, Neutral etc. Then he checked my ups and said it will be replaced free of cost as it is in warranty period. I felt very happy and was overjoyed.
This FREE OF COST Change of my Ups was also confirmed by one Mr Ganesh in the escalations. He said in 2 days time it will be changed. Its been total 15 days from the date of complaint 29th July 2008, my problem is not solved. I have called up Ms Ashwini and Mr Deepak in the escalations, but everyday they tell me ” ya today or tomorrow our engineer will come, now there is no stock of 600VA thats why we have to wait… Then 1 day another mechanic came from same Shiva Systems, Jaynagar. The moment he put a replacement UPS , it went off and again he said, I think this UPS is not fine. The service engineer doesnt know whether the UPS he has brought along with him is working or faulty !!!
TILL NOW IT IS 20 DAYS OVER, MY PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED.

I bought APC invertor on july 17th and it started giving problem with in one month time. I called service center and logged the complain on 18th of August. My complain no. is C-1- 700227239. The service engineer came after two days and found that the battery is down and it needs to be replaced. 11 days after logging of the complain the battery has not been replaced. I feel the service part is very bad. which has to be improved to gain the faith of customer.

I do not think it is a question of whether APC has “good” or “bad” customer support — they don not seem to have any! In my encounters with them on behalf of my 92 old dad (who has been haggling with them since July to get a defective battery under warranty replaced), I have concluded that their so-called service group seems to be merely a facade to hold the small customers at bay, as the organization seems to be facing serious internal issues and continues to renege on its warranty obligations. I have been a COO of a public organization in the U.S. and used to oversee customer support for several years. The signs of declining customer support (I see from previous posts that APC seems to have had good support in 2005-06) is a sure sign of serious internal turmoil — and any firm that gives the type of runaround that my dad has received from APC over the last few weeks would not last for a minute there. Too bad that here in India we continue to tolerate such corporate incompetence.

Regarding this issue I called up your customer care and complained about the issue. I was informed that the ups is out of warranty and servicing would be provided on chargeable basis.
I do agree the terms and conditions of your organisation but for that I do need a quotation so that it can be verified by our senior managers for payment.

Once upon a time the service of APC was too good. But now, it is non existent. My inverter bought more than 2 years ago has conked out. The service provider visited my place only to tell that it is not working. “The PCB has to be replaced” was the verdict. And PCB is not avaiable with APC since June 2008. Ofcourse, you have to give them their visit charges for this sermon!!!
So what are we supposed to do? No one seems to have an answer.
What about you APC? Please tell me whether to dump this and buy a new inverter or wait?

I can tell you now that APC support really sucks. Whether it’s the chat center in India or advanced support in North America, they are hopeless.
We have over 500 UPS units and we can’t get the help we need from anyone.
Guess who won’t be getting our replacement order next year.
worst service by APC, Apc knows only to sell the products, after sales the service is too bad, APC Say’s that replacement warranty for the products, The thing is they are not giving the new one, The old repaired unit they will give.. I have given APC UPS for estimation of changing switch and battery on 29/9/2008 inward serial no. 172. That time they could not be able to tell the cost of the switch and battery as Service Engg. was not available as it was at 6.00 PM.
After one week some body from service center called me and given estimate over telephone and cost of switch and battery around 2100/-. Then I informed that person not do the repair and I will take it back my UPS as it is. Then after few days I went to receive my UPS they asked me Rs. 150/- for service charge when I asked them while giving they said me that charges will be made only after repair. Even at the time of informing the estimate I asked specifically that is there any charges I have to pay they said no. Now why they are asking me to pay the charges I could not understand. Therefore I am requesting you to kindly return my UPS other wise I may have to take this complaint to APC higher authorities.
Hope you will understand the situation and help me in getting my UPS back.

Contact Country Manager Mr. Eswar Vishwanathhan two or three time contact on mobile but not proper response, 4th time or more time not pickup the mobile.
APC Service Satisfaction : Not Satisfaction, Very Bad experience from APC, IIIrd Class Service.

I too had to suffer APC’s cold shoulder over a period of 3 months. Their usual tactic was to “upgrade” my complaint to a “higher” authority. This “higher” authority used to mail asking me to contact him on his cell number-this cell number would be unfailingly unreachable! APC expected to wear me down, but I didn’t relent and filed a complaint with the “National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission”. I informed APC about my approaching the NCDRC. Lo and behold ! Within a matter of 4 days the so far elusive “higher” authority contacted me and replaced my battery with a brand new one!
I too have similar horror story with APC invertor.I feel I have been taken for a ride with this product; I purchased 7-8 months back and it failed; After 10-15 days of complaining, one service person came with replacement unit which is again a old unit and did not even know to connect to the home electrical points and asked us to use our electrician to connect. we did that and the replacment unit is having so many problems that many of my gadgets have gone faulty and getting heated up.
when I tried to do follow up, I am supposed to register new complaint and follow up , and I am getting sick of it.
