Bad day today, for past one week mails from our office mail servers are getting bounced back by VSNL mail server, the reason was, our IP got listed in Spam because of 2 virus infected machines…
I cleaned the machines, got our IP removed from SpamHaus (VSNL uses IP list from SpamHaus) but still VSNL is considering our mails as spam and bouncing the mails…every time it provides the same reason in the bounced email…”< -- 530 5.7.1 http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
I called their customer support phone number and asked them to remove it, they asked me that it wont be possible to remove it from here, please mail us at [email protected], so I mailed them, no response for a 3-4 days, so I called them up again....they asked me to send mail to [email protected], since the email is vsnl.com so mail got bounced back stating same spam reason...
So I called them again, this time again I was told that they wont be able to help me, since I am not VSNL customer, they cannot lodge the complaint also…
So the solution? Nothing, wait for VSNL to remove our IP automatically…it may take 1 week, 1 months or few months…
They did not let me talk to some senior person in technical department also….the work is just 2 mins of work…they just need to refresh their spam list cache…

I have an VSNL (Tata Total) account and I mainly use web mail access to receive and send emails to / from my VSNL account. From 27th March onwards I find a peculiar issue. The emails I send out to others using the web mail feature in VSNL web site, are not actually delivered to the recipients, though these are shown as “sent items” in my “Sent” folder. Also the auto forward option, which is set by me for all the incming emails in my VSNL inbox is also not functioning from the same date.
The problem is not PC / ISP connection specific. I have tested the above failures in two different PCs – one in LAN and another in DSL broadband. Both the scenarios, the sent items are not delivered nor the auto forward feature working.
Any one out there, facing similar problems ?

I have taken vsnl broad band connection very recently. From the second day of activation I could not open any webpage and browse through the net. I complained 4 times from 5th to 8th May speaking to a new operators every time. They took 4 days to attend to my complaint. Today I am able to use the net.
Its high time the vsnl (govt undertaking) pull up their socks lest the customers switch their brand loyalty to private players, even if it costs more.

Vsnl customer support has really gone from bad to worse, i recently (november 2006) shifted my place of residence from sion to mulund. sending a request to vsnl for the shifting if they can do it gets me a reply that is can be done at some charge. the connection gets shifted in about 10~15 days time.

The person who had come for the cabling did a sorry job of the cable routing as the cable runs diagonally across my window (top right to bottom left of my window) and it runs the same way for the person staying above me {pathetic cabling}. now the internet runs smoothly for about a week and since first week of december there is no link on my ethernet card (no light on my lan card).
Having confirmed that my pc or my lan card is not faulty (being a hardware and network engg myself), i lodged a complaint for the shabby cabling and the no link status to vsnl customer support. I get a (standard) reply that the problem will be attended to in 24 hours of time. well the problem was attended to but after 4 days, the link issue was sorted and i was told that there is some other guy who will handle the cable routing problem. The lan link went down the next day and after repeated mails and phone calls to them there is no reply from them except the standard 24hour some one will get back to you…. i am really helpless as to what should be the next action 🙁

for sify broadband (ISP) you can configure the smtp outgoing server as asmtp.sifybroadband.com and change the default port from 25 to 587 . and type in u r sify broadband userid . you can recieve u r VSNL emails by keeping the same server for incoming mail.

Now I am using BSNL BROADBAND connection and using Microsoft Outlook – 2003 and setting Incoming server name as “pop.vsnl.com” and for outgoing “smtp.vsnl.com”. Very Pathetic Services from VSNL. Since month back getting issue for non connectivity from their end which has resolved after 14 days of the complaint made and even after givin daily calls @ customer care for 5-6 times.. I have a email acccount [email protected]. I am not able to send the mails from Microsoft Outlook for the last 3 months. I called up the customer care but everytime they come saying it takes 48 hrs and unfortunately i guess for them its yet to come till date and there are no follow up.But when i delay in paying for the broadband they are constant follow up and one day delay my account is inactive.This is what service they provide.Till i am still looking for VSNL technical person to come back to me to get my problem solved..Hope this is rectified in this century.
