Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Movie Review

WHAT A ROYAL CRAP!!! 10.30 PM houseful show, people entering with excitement and getting out with demands for the refund haha.. and I was one of them. I need my money back. I am sure this movie is gonna be one of the worst movies Yash Raj Films have ever made.

Let’s move on to the story (which I am yet to understand)

2 people meet on the station, waiting for someone. The guy – aka – Rikki Thukral (Abhishek Bachchan) is waiting for his fiance Anaida (Lara Dutta). The girl aka Alvira Khan (Preity Zinta) is waiting for her fiance Steve Singh (Bobby Deol).

So they both talked, discussed their love stories, how they met, they both even sang few songs, did some tattoo and stuff. And they found that they are in love with each other. But what? train has arrived. They both part their ways. (yea, they exchange phone numbers too) But wait a minute, none of them are engaged. They both just cooked up some stories just for the sake of it.

So now? they decide to meet, but they don’t have real fiances. They take help of friends to get fake fiances and they again sing songs, dance and even participate in the dance competition.

Okay, so the story is? Well, that’s it. They somehow manage to know that none of them is engaged and they can fall in love with each other lol

So to narrate the story or in other words, explain this story, director took more than 2 hours and around 30 minutes of songs. But the end result? People still wonder about the story.. haha

Nothing new in the story, first half is utter nonsense. Even first few minutes of 2nd half are bad, then it get back on the track but within next 10 minute, the same old crap starts.

I still do not know why the name of this movie is Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, it could have been Jarokha – the dance competition or may be Railway Station or may be.. oh leave it..

Leaving songs and few good scenes apart, whole movie was total nonsense.

On the acting front, Abhishek is good in few scenes but overall he was bad. Preity was in her usual role. Bobby looked like as if Dharmendra had slapped him and force him to act (and even dance), Bad!! Lara Dutta looked gorgeous, I liked her role as french hotel manager. Loved her accent.

On the music front, good songs, specially the title song (both the versions).

So overall? One of the pathetic movies I have ever seen. 1.5 on 5. Keep yourself away from this movie.

  1. What was Amitab bachan doing. Amitab has gained a lot of ego, and complex. As of now he is unconfertable with most of Actors.. However means he tries to push his son hard, and get his bahu-rani roles.. He should understand that his family has gone crap… Aishwariya shows up her stupid serious face, and professionalism to media..

God save their family.. I thought Abhishek was a good actor, but no doubt his dad would create problems with everybody on his behalf.

  2. Thanks a lot man, you saved me from repenting later on. I had planned to watch the movie tomorrow, now I’ll safely skip it. Thanks for the timely review.

  6. it isthe worst movie i have ever seen in my life. its definately going to compete for the worst movie of the year guys n gals i advise you not to even think of seeing this damn bullshit movie

  7. Hey Dude just a sec, just think back. You are keepin on blah blah blah..Youhooo! Got to think a bit more. The film is not a success, but a lot of good things in it. Especially Lara Dutta’s performance. I am not sure who dubbed for her charecter, but its outstanding. The dialogue delivery itself beautifies the charecter, and moreover she appears godgess!!! Also I was not quite impressed by Pretty’z charecterization. But Abishek has done a descent JOb. ( I am not fan for Abishek ;)) And also a main drawback is that the film has only a limited number of scenes, like you dont come to see pretty good amount of locations or outdoor shots. Its pretty like three three shots in all, the 1st half at the railway station, the story for both of them ( meeting Anaida and Alvira with the superman) and the climax. It was also not a good idea to use the song JOOM BARABAR for long. But SHANKAR-EHSANN-LOYD has done a good job! Kudooos to them! The song BOL NA HALKE HALKE sung by KAILASH is Awesome!! The picturisation..everything is superbbbb. The director has done a loooooot of hardwork in that song. The choreography, camera work, the sets everything rocks!!

Amithab also make a good impact. But what we feel like damn!! is caz its like having a small boundry of limit. Limited stars,,, limited shots,,re use of tracks,,,it goes on. But afterall if you are passionate to the realities behind moviemaking..Its a great piece of work! The director did all the work with his signature style. He had put a great amount of effort into it. And something which I liked the most is how he presented ANAIDA. Especially the shot where she proposes to Abishek. But even if it goes raining on and on didnt click. Most important- it created a huge expectation in the mind of each of us that we couldnt even imagine that the story behind was such a microscopic idea.
Hope for a muck recognized work from the same team!!
